Will the Seine River be clean enough for the Paris Olympics? This looming question remains, as experts still don't know. Water quality in the Seine is a century old-issue. While France has been investing in #waterinfrastructure in preparation for the Games, #stormwater remains a top concern. "This is yet another example of the need to preemptively invest in water resources management so we can avoid short-term fixes at the expense of athletes, citizens, and the environment." - Bluefield Senior Research Director Chloé Meyer Check out Bluefield's perspective here: https://hubs.ly/Q02GQD550 #EuropeWater #GlobalWater #Olympics #Paris2024 #MunicipalWater #WaterQuality

PFAS continues to be a huge topic, making headlines globally.🌍 On 4 April, the French National Assembly unanimously approved a new bill that bans certain PFAS products as of 1 January 2026. Following the bill’s approval, on 11 April, Veolia France reported PFAS levels in two-thirds of its drinking water sites that serve 15 million inhabitants. So far, 99% of sites meet the new PFAS standards. For the remaining 1% in exceedance, Veolia has implemented remediation measures on more than half. Competitors SUEZ and SAUR have also announced PFAS testing capabilities and ongoing R&D programs. 💧 News Alert // Top Companies in Water There are reports, per Bloomberg, that leading water firms Xylem and Veralto are eyeing DuPont Water Solutions to tie the knot through a potential acquisition. This news comes shortly after Reese Tisdale discussed DuPont's plans to spinout its water business with David McGimpsey on The Water Values Podcast (June 18 episode - "Reimagining Desalination with OceanWell's Jonathon Haswell"). If anything, this report adds color to the discussion about convergence (i.e., M&A) vs. divergence (i.e., spinout) trends among multinational companies with strong positions in the water sector. Key points Bluefield Research's team of experts are considering: // DuPont announced in May plans to split the current $12B company into three publicly traded companies- New DuPont, Electronics, and Water. What are the impacts of a stand-alone Dupont Water business? // Word on the street, if sold, the Water business, alone, could fetch $6B+ including debt. How does this rank compared to other water deals? // Veralto was just spun out of Danaher Corporation last year and Xylem is digesting its relatively recent acquisition of Evoqua Water Technologies. What would this mean for the two suitors?
