🗣️"Quand on essaie aujourd’hui d’opposer la fin du monde et la fin du mois, je pense qu’on se trompe de question ! Estelle Brachlianoff lors des #REAix2024. ➡️ La question brûlante de la compatibilité entre les objectifs écologiques et la performance économique a été au cœur des débats de la plénière “ #PlanificationEcologique, mirage économique?”. ➡️ Alors que les questions environnementales semblaient avoir été reléguées au second plan ces derniers mois, force est de constater que le besoin d'agir rapidement n'a jamais été aussi pressant ! 💧Il y a d’abord les réalités physiques. La première conséquence du changement climatique, c’est la perturbation du cycle de l'#eau dans les territoires : pas assez d’eau, ou trop, ou pas au bon endroit, ou pas au bon moment. 👨👨👧 Il y a aussi ce que pensent vraiment les populations. Pour le savoir, nous avons mené un sondage dans 26 pays. Deux tiers de la population mondiale a compris que le coût de l’inaction climatique serait plus élevé que le coût de l’action. 👫🏽 Les citoyens recherchent une écologie qui protège leur pouvoir d’achat, leur #santé et la richesse de leur #territoire. POSCO Lithium Solution, a subsidiary of South #Korea ’s largest steel manufacturer, has chosen Veolia to provide its technological and industrial expertise for the production of battery-quality lithium hydroxide. 🔋 The aim is to design and deliver an integrated conversion system using its advanced HPD® purification and crystallization technology, that refines salts needed for electric #battery production. ⚡ This advanced technology will make the production process more #sustainable and water-efficient. The patented chemical conversion maximizes reuse of the condensate generated, with a recovery rate of over 94%, significantly reducing the #water footprint of the industrial process. 💧 This will be a real asset for South Korea, the world’s second-largest producer in this sector, as it works to step up domestic production of lithium hydroxide. 🚀

[Press release] In accordance with the commitments made to the Moroccan competition authorities, Veolia announces that it has reached an #agreement with the Moroccan authorities for the sale to Société Régionale Multiservices Casablanca-Settat of its entire stake in Lydec, acquired during the takeover of Suez in 2022.💧 ➡️ Lydec is in charge of the delegated management of public services for the distribution of drinking #water 🚰, electricity, #wastewater and public lighting for the city of Casablanca and its region. ➡️ The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2024, once all the necessary administrative approvals have been obtained. How do we transform wastewater into biomethane? 💧⚡ ➡️ Wastewater is piped to sewage treatment plants then treated before being reused or discharged into the environment. Sewage sludge, the residue that remains after #wastewater is treated, is transformed into #biogas thanks to the methanization process.
