Jonathan Hess
Jonathan is excited to help provide consumers with an advantage. He brings experience in investment banking from Barclays and Piva Capital, a venture capital firm, both focused on technology. Jonathan served as co-founder of a battery materials company, founded a COVID response nonprofit, and built Rising Tide Growth Partners, a firm focused on acquiring profitable software businesses. Jonathan earned his MBA from Stanford and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama. He plays electric violin and guitar, serves his Atlanta community through his church’s international Refugee Ministry, attempts to keep up with his girlfriend Grace running (unsuccessfully), and enjoys Alabama football with friends and loved ones. He’s passionate about community.
Daniel Brauer
Daniel joined ConsumerAffairs in 2019 as Chief of Staff and since 2021 has headed up site improvements, SEO and design across the company. He spent 13 years in the ski industry, starting as a seasonal guest service employee at Copper Mountain in Colorado. Daniel eventually led Epic Pass’s growth as the first product to provide skiers with the ability to ski across the US, Canada, Europe, Japan, and Australia. Outside of work, Daniel loves DIY renovation projects and anything outdoors with his family, especially (surprise!) skiing.

Raised in picturesque Cape Cod, MA., Jay graduated from Duke University, was an analyst at Capital One, and led multiple business units at Red Ventures through the 2010s. After a winter off to chase a dream of being a ski instructor in Wyoming, he was drawn to ConsumerAffairs by the strength of its talent and people. Jay is responsible for the profitability and growth of our marketplace business. He has a master’s degree in journalism from Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu, and he has been driving (sometimes even racing) cars and writing about them since his days in journalism school. In recent years, he has become increasingly fascinated with the emergence of electric vehicles and their profound impact on the auto industry and consumer behavior. Prior to joining ConsumerAffairs in May 2024, Dan worked as a news writer and editor for InsideEVs, CarScoops and DriveMag, with previous stints for other international media outlets. Writing and cars aside, he loves reading, cycling, hiking and spending quality time with his family.
