The Japanese occupation of the Philippines was brief, lasting less than 36 months from 1942 to 1944. During this short time, the Japanese focused on forced labor to build fortifications and gathering collaborators rather than establishing cultural influences. Their control was also hampered by an ongoing guerilla resistance. The occupation caused major hardships for Filipinos through loss of freedoms and development being stopped.
The document compares cultural habits between Filipino and Japanese cultures in the areas of punctuality, eating habits, greetings, and work ethic. For punctuality, Filipinos are less punctual than the precise Japanese. For eating habits, both cultures eat rice and viands as the main meal but Japan also includes soup and uses chopsticks while Filipinos may use utensils. For greetings, Filipinos greet with hugs, kisses or handshakes depending on closeness while Japanese bow with surnames. For work ethic, Filipinos maintain a relaxed atmosphere while Japanese focus seriously on their work.

HTML is the main markup language used to create web pages and other information displayed in web browsers. It has evolved over time from HTML in 1990 to newer specifications like HTML5, with HTML5 expected to be finalized by 2016. CSS is used to describe the presentation and formatting of HTML documents, and has also evolved from CSS1 to the current CSS3 specification, which is divided into modules that add new capabilities without breaking compatibility. Together, HTML and CSS provide a common application platform for building websites and web apps that can be viewed across devices like desktops, tablets, and mobile phones.
HTML5 is the newest version of the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). It introduces several new elements and attributes that help improve the semantic structure of web pages and make them more engaging. Some key features of HTML5 include new semantic elements like <header>, <footer>, and <section>; forms improvements; local storage; WebSockets; and multimedia elements like <video> and <canvas>. The HTML5 specification is still under development by the W3C and WHATWG organizations.

Finally, it covers key HTML5 features for mobile devices and showcasing Joomla! templates on mobile.
The browser has been called the "most hostile software development environment imaginable." While at the same time, the ubiquity of the browser is exactly what makes a web application so powerful. A good web application is designed to run everywhere and for everyone. Today that means supporting more browsers on more devices than any time in history. This session will explore the challenges (and fun) of building sites in a multi-platform and multi-device world while still enabling features of the Open Web like HTML5 and CSS3.

HTML 5 may take some time to find full support in all major browsers, but you may be surprised to discover how many of HTML 5’s features are available today! HTML 5 is the next generation standard for web applications, and it promises to give plug-in based RIAs a serious challenge. In this demo heavy session, you’ll see HTML 5 in action and learn what you can do with today’s browser support for the new standard. If you’re building rich web applications and you’ve never touched HTML 5, this session is a must see.
This document discusses using HTML5 and CSS3 in websites today. It dispels some myths about these technologies, including that the HTML5 specification is not finished yet and that browsers do not support it. The document explains that while HTML5 and CSS3 are still evolving, browser support is strong already and many features can be used now. Alternative techniques are available for features with incomplete browser support. Overall, the key message is that HTML5 and CSS3 can and should be used today on websites.
The document provides an overview of HTML5, including its history from 2004 to the present, widespread browser support, and new features such as semantic tags, simplified forms, 2D drawing, audio/video playback, device access APIs, offline storage, and performance improvements. It discusses HTML5's transition from a working group to recommendation status and references for further information.
HTML5 defines the latest revision of HTML that adds new semantic elements and graphical capabilities. It is still being developed by the W3C, but browsers already support some features like canvas, video, and geolocation. HTML5 provides features like native audio and video playback, offline web applications, and an improved drawing surface, along with other capabilities, without requiring browser plugins. However, there are still ongoing discussions around issues like video formats and concerns about privacy controls as HTML5 enables new ways of tracking users.
