Due to the many variables in the typical telephone plant, it is very difficult to say with absolute certainty what the upload and/or download speed of any individual subscriber will be. However, this chart shows the minimums that can be expected in most cases.



This chart is based on the following:

1. The pair consists of number 26 American Wire Gauge conductors. This is the minimum size wire used in the modern telephone plant. Larger gauge wire will provide better performance or more reach.
   
   
2. There are no bridge taps present on the pair.
