Congratulations to all the members of Elevate Quantum! The consortium was just awarded $127 million in federal and state funding to secure US leadership in Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming for the most important technology of the 21st century! Over the next decade, these programs will support 10,000+ new jobs, skills training for 30,000 workers, and extensive infrastructure projects throughout the #MountainWest region. Quantinuum is a proud member of the Mountain West quantum community and the #ElevateQuantum Consortium, which includes Atom Computing, FormFactor Inc., Infleqtion, University of Colorado, Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory and others.

Quantinuum and University of Colorado Boulder just made quantum error correction easier. Read more in this blogpost: https://lnkd.in/eeBpediv We’ve recently published a scientific paper describing the implementation of a never-before-used quantum error correction code to create four logical qubits and hit the “break even.”       This is an important milestone in the quest to build quantum computers that can overcome errors and deliver accurate results – which is what today’s supercomputers do.  It also builds on several recent quantum error corrections advancements in recent months by the Quantinuum team, such as our joint announcement with Microsoft where we showed error rates reduced by a factor of 800x thanks to Microsoft’s innovative error correction scheme.     This collaboration is yet another example of how Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming are leading the world in #quantumcomputing.  We are proud to be part of the robust #quantum ecosystem in #Colorado, #NewMexico and #Wyoming.  Read the scientific paper here: https://lnkd.in/e9KSmKXJ Access our H-Series hardware here: https://lnkd.in/eV6b6nWw

“The tipping point is NOW because we have quantum computers that can’t be simulated in certain areas.”    That was the assessment of Ilyas Khan, KSG, founder, vice-chair and chief product officer of Quantinuum, at The Economist’s Commercialising Quantum event earlier this month in London.    Ilyas was speaking with Tom Standage, deputy editor at The Economist, and Robert Bruckmeier, general manager for computing and AI, at the BMW Group, during the session, “The Industrialisation of Quantum: Getting Ready to Benefit Business and Society”.    The conversation covered a lot of ground in a short time, from BMW’s longstanding commitment to exploring quantum computing to Quantinuum’s many recent industry-leading performance achievements with its H-Series systems.      Tom asked if BMW is seeing useful results now from its work with Quantinuum, and Robert said they are gaining insights that would have been difficult to achieve with classical computing alone.     Robert described how BMW’s teams are conducting research in quantum chemistry, including hydrogen fuel cells and lithium-ion batteries – simulations in aerodynamics that are challenging for today’s HPCs as well as multi-physics simulations to enhance automotive design.    To view the session, please go here: https://lnkd.in/eYeHNC9e

With the #Olympics kicking off in less than a month, we’re reflecting on the #BIGQuantumHackathon in Paris, where teams tackled applications of quantum computing in the sports industry. Quantinuum was honored to work with industry sponsor Fédération Française de Tennis for analysis of ‘real time quantum-powered object detection to improve the judging systems of tennis competitions’. This was just one of many interesting applications analyzed by developers at the event. While these use cases may not benefit from #quantum advantage, to realize the full potential of quantum computing, it’s important that organizations across industries develop ideas for real-world applications in parallel to technological advancements. Our team is tackling the “interpretability problem”, helping us build safer AI. While it is well known that current widely used AI models lack interpretability, meaning we can’t understand why they made the decisions they do, we have until recently lacked a rigorous way of defining and assessing interpretability in machine learning. This is proving to be critical for the ethical deployment of AI in fields like medicine or finance. A small team within Quantinuum led by Stephen Clark, and including Ilyas Khan, KSG, has made a meaningful step forward in solving this problem, with the publication of a new paper that shows us how to properly and accurately determine the interpretability of various #AI models. 🌟 Rajeeb Hazra, CEO, and Nash Palaniswamy, CCO for Quantinuum, are giving keynote addresses at the International Advanced Workshop on High Performance Computing (HPC 2024) in Cetraro, Italy, June 24 and June 28. Prior to joining Quantinuum, Rajeeb Hazra led strategy and research groups in supercomputing organizations throughout his career at companies like Micron Technologies and Intel. In this talk, he uses this understanding of the industry to explain why he thinks quantum computing is the next (and near-term) transformative technology and shares the roadmap to achieving this. Today’s Microsoft announcement brings us closer to unlocking the promise of quantum computing plus AI and high performance computing for generative chemistry. Fast on the heels of announcing the most reliable logical qubits on record – and showing Quantinuum’s H-Series as the first and only device to support such reliability – Quantinuum and Microsoft are now exploring this new capability in simulations of chemical catalysts using logical qubits on System Model H1.
