The most rewarding part in hosting #quantum #competitions is in making people discover technology. It takes a lot of motivation 👊 , courage 💪 and scientific curiosity 👀 to trust your #usecases to the teams of young talents supported by mentors from quantum companies. During the past in-person BIG Quantum Hackathon #BIG2024 in Paris 🥖 🍷 dedicated to Olympic innovation, we had chance to collaborate with 4️⃣ newbies including UEFA, Fédération Française de Tennis, Institut National du Sport, de l'Expertise et de la Performance, and Pentland Group Limited. The latter presented the use-case, triumphed the competition with both technical and business solutions 🏆 🔻 The Innovation Team at Speedo (one of the brands owned by Group) uses Computational Fluid Dynamics #CFD to analyze and visualize effects of drag on swimmers. This research informs the design of the Speedo #Fastskin suit worn by athletes in top-level competitions such as the #OlympicGames. The aim of the suit, besides being a brand piece of sport fashion, is to minimize the drag so the swimmer can move faster through the water 🔺 The joint effort of hackers Kees Wagemans, Juan Manuel Aguiar, Pierre-Olivier VANHEECKHOET, Matthieu MÉRIGOT-LOMBARD, Christian Metzl and Youssef ACHARI BERRADA, supported by Amazon Web Services (AWS) specialists and Michael Brett together with Damyr Hadiiev (SoftServe), Mykola Maksymenko (Haiqu) and Benjamin Nott (BlancoLab), gave it fruits. Another successful edition of #BIGQuantumHackathon #BQH2024 in Paris 🥖 🍾 🧀 During the past 4 days we were exploring the potential of #QuantumTech to tackle the #sports applications enhancing the #performance and #trainings, improving the #judging systems and preventing the #injuries, creating new efficient #designs and contributing to the #longevity. ⛹♀️ 🤼♂️ 🏋♀️ 🏂 Bringing together the representatives of a global sports industry for the first time around the quantum topic was not an easy task, and we are 🔟 times more grateful to our amazing mentors from the Institut National du Sport, de l'Expertise et de la Performance & EDF, Pentland Brands & Speedo, Fédération Française de Tennis, Vodafone, Merck Group, Ansys, French Ministry for Armed Forces and UEFA for your trust, hard work, curiosity and motivation.
