Number of the Month: €1.2 Trillion 🌟 Sounds like a lot, but it is absolutely necessary! According to a recent EY study for the Federal Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW Bundesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft e.V.), Germany needs €1.2 trillion by 2035 to make the energy transition a reality. That’s around 2.5 times the federal budget for 2024! 💶💡 In times of federal budget discussion and unsatisfied election results by the Ampel-Regierung, this sounds like a dangerously growing gap. When budgets are cut, we keep fighting for improved regulation to de-bureaucratize processes and decrease costs! Still reeling from a busy and fruitful May for the FEV team! Patrick Elftmann and Anna Trendewicz kicked things off as part of the jury at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Industry Growth event in Denver. Focus was on commercialization of clean energy solutions ⚡️🚀 Natalie Milde advocated for Internal Carbon Pricing and going beyond offsetting to focusing on a global Net Zero, together with Alexander Farsan from Klarna, and shared the experiences from FEV in a webinar by Milkywire 🌍 Maciej Lehmann attended Latitude59 in Tallinn and was blown away by the incredible startup and VC ecosystem in Estonia. Founders are product-focused, think globally from day one, and are extremely open and collaborative. His highlight was the Sunset Soirée by Creandum, Inventure and Superangel and the Specialist Sunset Cruise. 🌟 Natalie Milde moderated a panel on AI and Optimization in climate tech with Tuomas Oksanen (Grid.vc), Nicolas Milerioux (Encevo ), and Dr. Terhi (TJ) Vapola (Greencode Ventures) and served as jury member at Cleantech Capital Day by Cleantech Scandinavia. For her, the highlight was celebrating the winners of Nordic Cleantech Open, GREEN14 , Re:meat and FLOX Robotics! Jan Lozek and Anna Trendewicz participated in the Free Electrons Program in Madrid. They learned about the biggest challenges and pain points that utilities face first-hand and connected with exceptional founders and great utilities around the globe, like E.ON, CLP, EDP, ESB, JERA Americas, Origin Energy, Hydro Québec. Better late than never 😅 Highlights from last week in Helsinki, at Cleantech Scandinavia’s Cleantech Capital Day 2024! 🌍 The value add of AI in climate tech, the vast variety of use cases, but also the environmental cost and how to minimize damage were the topics of the panel discussion I moderated with the brilliant trio Tuomas Oksanen (Grid.vc), Nicolas Milerioux (Encevo ) and Dr. Terhi (TJ) Vapola (Greencode Ventures). And thanks to Emulate, CeLLife Technologies Ltd., Futurehome AS, Next Sense, and Exaum for strong pitches! 🙏 🏆 GREEN14 (decarbonized silicone) was crowned the winner of Nordic Cleantech Open 2024, and Re:meat (cultivated meat) and FLOX Robotics (autonomous wildlife management) got well-deserved 2nd and 3rd places 🎉 I had the pleasure of being in the jury, and together with Benedikt Weissenberger  (VERBUND AG), Ruchit M. (Ørsted), Carlos González Guil (Net Zero Ventures), and other international investors and corporates we narrowed it down to these winners from 130+ companies from a range of industries, all united in their mission to bring a sustainable society into reality🙌. 💰 Finally, the plenary session on 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒕 – 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒑𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒍? was tremendously important.
