Fishamble: The New Play Company celebrated the launch of its latest anthology, "Tiny Plays", in ESB’s head office in Dublin last Wednesday. Proudly supported by ESB, this collection showcases the creativity and talent of playwrights who have mastered the art of storytelling in just 600 words. In 2021, through supporting the arts sector during the challenging lockdown period, ESB and Fishamble: The New Play Company saw an opportunity to invite the public to envision a brighter future through short plays. Ten Tiny Plays for a Brighter Future are included in the Tiny Plays Book ,which highlights diverse voices and stories from Ireland and serves as a testament to the resilience and creativity of its people. To support targets that address #climatechange, large companies are increasingly seeking a guarantee of green energy from their energy suppliers before switching. These guarantees of origin energy certificates (GOOs) are matched on an annual or monthly basis so it can often prove difficult for energy companies, and their customers, to report on their green energy usage on an accurate basis. Today, our Venture Innovation Team, X_Site, in partnership with Granular Energy has successfully completed the first phase of a pilot integration that has made generating hourly matched green energy reports feasible for several sample commercial customers. As part of this pilot, data from our Carnsore wind farm in Co Wexford was directly matched to test customers hourly consumption, demonstrating that the data could be matched accurately and reported immediately to customers. Ahead of ESB Science Blast 2024, Brendan Shine, plant manager of Ardnacrusha Power Station, visited Killea National School to investigate a very important question about renewable energy: Can fruit and vegetables make electricity? ESB Science Blast, a non-competitive educational programme, shows children how fun and exciting STEM can be. Teachers from across Ireland are embracing ESB Science Blast for its incredible impact on students. The interactive and enjoyable investigations, led by the students, spark curiosity and a love for learning, preparing them for tomorrows world. We have launched new zero-carbon hydrogen power generation demonstration units to showcase what is the first deployment of hydrogen to zero-carbon electricity in Ireland.   The units, produced by GeoPura, and their partner, Siemens Energy can support the network by using fuel cell technology to supply up to 250kW of clean power when required – with the only by-product being pure water.   The hydrogen power units are part of a larger investment by ESB in a demonstration-scale green hydrogen lighthouse project to support the delivery of our #ESBNetZeroFuture strategy. As set out in our Sustainability Leadership Plan, our goal is to be nature- positive by 2030 and support nature restoration across our activities.    Our ambitions include collaborating with partners to enhance biodiversity. Recently, as part of a large-scale energy efficiency project with a key manufacturing client, ESB's Smart Energy team developed an on-site plan that not only improved energy performance but also incorporated dedicated spaces to support and nurture natural wildflowers. This initiative involved planting native species, creating habitats for pollinators, and integrating green spaces within the industrial landscape, turning underutilised areas into thriving ecosystems.    By fostering these green spaces, we are creating a ripple effect that benefits the surrounding environment and communities, promoting a healthier, more sustainable future. Our team’s commitment to combining energy efficiency with conservation demonstrates how industrial projects can harmonise with nature.    As we continue implementing energy efficiency solutions, we’re proud to see tangible results contributing to the preservation and restoration of our precious ecosystems.    #ESBSmartEnergyServices #Biodiversity #Sustainability
