When you have a chance to spend time with young minds driven to create and show what is possible in the field of sustainable mobility, you jump at the chance. That is what we did recently, with our very own Geert Jan Schellekens leading an #automotive design masterclass session with students at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). The students are part of the university’s TU/ecomotive program – an extracurricular, cross-faculty program between TU/e and Fontys University of Applied Sciences, also in Eindhoven. Geert is mentoring the students in their efforts this year to develop a running prototype vehicle, one that tangibly represents a more sustainable mobility solution. #SABIC in the Netherlands has a long history of collaborating with TU/e and, in particular, the TU/ecomotive team. In addition to supplying materials to enable past vehicle builds, experts from SABIC typically provide advice and support in the form of design and processing know-how. Thank you to the TU/ecomotive team for the opportunity and the students who participated in this year’s workshop. Our SABIC team was pleased to team up with Caresoft Global to deliver a first-of-its-kind experience for talent of the future during the recent Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) Plastics conference in Dubai. Together, we hosted students and young professionals from GPCA’s Leaders of Tomorrow program to a full-day experience, in which we gave them insights into the use of #thermoplastics in vehicles and an overview of the application development process – from teardown and benchmarking to design and manufacturing. The time spent with everyone at Caresoft Global’s facility in the city of Ras Al Kheima was engaging… and we found it fulfilling to play a part in energizing young minds and talents of the future. One day, they may help us unlock the next generation of innovative #automotive application solutions. Thank you to all on our SABIC team and those from Caresoft Global who contributed to the day’s success.

The future of #automotive #lighting is bright, and our SABIC team was pleased to take part in exchanging ideas about that future at the 31st Driving Vision News Workshop, held in Detroit from June 11-12. Our very own Volker Plehn presented on solutions for front and rear exterior lighting and smart panels, with insights on material, design and processing considerations for those applications. He also took part in a panel discussion with other industry experts on trends and direction of automotive lighting technologies. Thank you to all who engaged with us over the two-day event. Our team is back again at #PIAE this year in Mannheim, Germany, taking place June 19-20.
