Port of Rotterdam hosted the 'Day of the Port Drayage Carrier' organized in close collaboration with Smart Freight Centre and A.P. Moller - Maersk at the World Port Center in Rotterdam on July 2nd. An informative session with over 80 participants to learn about the latest developments in sustainable landside transportation: ● Maersk shared its net zero ambition by 2040 and announced tangible actions to make part of its port-related drayage logistics zero-emission by 2025; ● Port of Rotterdam shared the latest development in truck charging infrastructure in the port and its plans going forward; ● Four truck OEM’s presented the latest development in their E-truck line-up: DAF Trucks NV, Mercedes-Benz AG, Volvo Trucks and Windrose Technology; ● Netherland Enterprise Agency (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO) was present to inform attendees on subsidy options for E-trucks and support in charging infrastructure; ● Developers of truck charging infrastructure, Shell, bp, ChargePoint, VARO Energy, Milence, EUROWAG shared the outlook of their most recent developments ● PragmaCharge closed the session with their additional consultancy role on top of truck charging infrastructure capabilities As the largest logistics hub in Europe, Port of Rotterdam Authority is taking the lead in the transition. We do this with efficient supply chains, sustainable fuels and international collaborations for CO2-neutral transport. The state-of-the-art experience centre can be found along the outer edge of Maasvlakte 2 against the dunes. It will not be an everyday visitor centre, but a place full of wonder and interaction, where young and old discover what the port is, does, means for our daily lives, and how it is transforming into the future. Portlantis is scheduled to open in Spring 2025.
