𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 🦅✅ Today, the second demonstrator for Skybox Offshore has been delivered by our partner Smulders to Sif Group. This demonstrator will be used for the finalization of the Skybox development program: the final offshore demonstration 🌊🏁 The year 2024 is fully occupied with long-term aging testing, cyclic testing and DNV C and B level certification... 2025 will be our last Skybox development year: DNV A-level certification will be achieved, making us ready for market deployment in 2026 🤝   Skybox, the next step in TP-less monopiles. 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗚𝗮𝗽 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱 👨🏼🏭   Times are changing in the offshore wind industry. Monopiles are getting bigger, and heavier, placed further offshore and they have to withstand extreme weather conditions at sea 🌊. Strong and durable welded connections are therefore essential.   At Sif, the Process Technology and Innovation (PT&I) department has developed an innovative welding technique to make welded joints strong and welded connections durable: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙒𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙏𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙢-𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙣 𝙉𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙬 𝙂𝙖𝙥 𝙎𝘼𝙒 (𝘾𝙒𝙏𝙏-𝙉𝙂𝙎𝘼𝙒) 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨.   Our welders have now been trained, and we have successfully applied the welding technique in Roermond, with very low reject rates. We owe this success to the joint effort of various departments within Sif and the commitment of our expert operators 👏. The new welding technique will be applied in Sif's production process in the new production halls on the Maasvlakte.   Want to know more about the new welding technique? 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘃𝘆𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀! 🏋️♂️ Our two new cranes, weighing an impressive 250 tons, reach 56.3 meters and a height of 3.5 meters. These cranes, capable of lifting up to 200 tons, will facilitate the transfer of cans and cones between workstations in our new halls 🚀.

𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 ✍️   We’re pleased to announce that Sif and Smulders have signed a Capacity Reservation and Early Works agreement with Equinor and Polenergia Polenergia for Bałtyk 2 & 3.   For the 100 transition pieces to be manufactured 🏭 Sif will manufacture approximately 30 kton of primary steel tubulars. 🧑🏭 Smulders will perform the secondary steel scope, coating, electrical system and testing and commissioning. 🛠️ The final assembly will take place at the Smulders yard in Hoboken, Belgium   Please read our press release here: https://lnkd.in/eDTW-swy

𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝟭 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 🔩    Equinor has taken another step in the right direction as they formalized the Empire Wind 1 power sale agreement. Empire Wind 1 will power 500,000 New York Homes with renewable energy.    ➡️ Next up for Sif is manufacturing and supplying 54 monopiles and transition pieces.  The first transition piece is currently being made in Roermond. 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴-𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀? In times where the CAPEX of an offshore wind farm has reached a peak, standardization and simplification are promising options for relieving this pressure. ROER renewables BV have supported us by independently interviewing 16 key-stakeholders from the industry on the pros and cons of going boat landing-less.   They come to a clear conclusion: 🔧 Boat landing-less is here to stay because of the potential for safety improvements and CAPEX reductions. In the short term, projects with and without boat landing will coexist. In the long term, the market is moving towards boat landing-less. Interested in more details? 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 🎤   Bart Theunissen was invited to present the Electron Beam Welding innovation at the 49th Q-Meeting, hosted by Van Oord in Rotterdam.   Bart showed the Rapidweld Project which has become the world's first full-scale demonstrator, in which electron beam welding has been applied, as it will be installed in Dogger Bank Wind farm soon.   A great moment to think again about the successful steps that have been taken 🙌.   SSE Renewables, Cambridge Vacuum Engineering, TWI
