Certas Energy powers Silverstone’s race to net zero! Certas Energy will supply more than 250,000 litres of renewable diesel to the British Grand Prix in support of its mission to reach net zero emissions. Certas Energy, the UK’s largest distributor of fuel and lubricants, has won the contract to supply HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) to the historic Formula 1 event taking place this weekend on the 7th of July. The contract is part of Silverstone’s ‘Shift to Zero’ strategy to reduce its carbon footprint and will see HVO power hundreds of generators used at the event, from the busy catering and hospitability tents for the likes of McLaren and Mercedes to the trucks and vans used by the world’s media to cover the race. Sam Edwards, Regional Manager at Certas Energy, said: “Silverstone is leading the way when it comes to sustainability and our HVO will be essential in supporting its ongoing commitment to the environment.” HVO is a lower carbon alternative diesel which offers immediate greenhouse gas emissions savings of up to 90% compared to standard diesel across the product life cycle. DCC Energy is driving energy transition. Tesco Ireland have taken delivery of 50 new biomethane fuelled trucks. The renewable fuel for the trucks will come from Irish and European anaerobic digestion plants, and the trucks will refuel at the newly opened Flogas Enterprise BioCNG refuelling station operated by Certa Ireland at St Margaret’s in north Dublin. Liquid Gas (LG) is an important transition fuel, given its lower carbon emissions relative to other fossil fuels. Our LG journey took us from Ireland to the UK, Europe, and the US. We recently strengthened our position in Germany with the acquisition of Progas. We think backwards from the customer, helping them through the energy trilemma and provide energy solutions for the here and now. We're also committed to building credible pathways for our customers to transition to even lower-carbon alternatives. We are scaling up biopropane sales across Europe and trialling renewable DME with commercial and industrial customers, to enhance LG's relevance as a long-term lower carbon solution for Europe.
