Celebrating 40 Years of Flogas Britain: Reflections from our HSEQ Director Dave Smith. "As Flogas Britain celebrates its 40th anniversary, I’d like to reflect on the transformation of UK health and safety culture & practices over the past four decades. Since the inception of the Health and Safety at Work Act in 1974, there has been a profound shift towards safeguarding the safety and well-being of employees and customers and this pivotal legislative milestone has led to a dramatic 85% reduction in workplace fatalities across the UK. This game-changing impact of - 85% is achieved by doing less than 5% improvement every year and is why we should always expect to make big steps in safety if we consistently work hard at being better tomorrow than we are today. At Flogas Britain, this commitment to continuous improvement is embodied in our SAFETY F1RST vision for ZERO HARM. I’m always immensely proud of Flogas colleagues taking positive actions to avoid harm despite the many hazards and challenges facing people working in our industry 24/7, in remote locations and in all weathers. The progress we’ve made in these last decades towards achieving excellence in health and safety is a testament to the professional competence and dedication of so many Flogas colleagues past and present. Their unwavering commitment to supporting our Zero Harm culture ensures we provide safe and reliable services to our customers every day. Our Flogas people have been instrumental in key innovations in our industry for improving safety and in developing better tools and safer methods to bring real step changes in safety management for the benefit of customers and colleagues alike. As we look to the future, we can of course see opportunities to do even better but most importantly, I want to extend the appreciation of the senior leadership team to all our Flogas colleagues and contractors who will continue tirelessly to champion SAFETY F1RST and we know that our job in managing safety is never done. "On our 40th Anniversary year, it's an opportune time to reflect on the progress made in our customer service journey so far. From humble beginnings, our business has progressed to be an energy partner of choice for so many off-grid homes and commercial customers across the country. Leading the way with an award-winning service and technical solutions, as recognised by both our customers and our industry. Our differentiation has been our innovation; the technical and engineering solutions we have offered to our customers, the service capability, and most importantly, our people, have all made a material difference and shaped who we are today. We have invested materially in that time, and most recently in the Avonmouth and Teesside terminals to create one of, if not the, most capable supply chains in our industry. The investments in fleet, operations and customer infrastructure have further strengthened the resiliency of our supply chain to underpin our customer service proposition. We can be assured that those investments have put us in the strongest position to be the energy partner of choice through the next decade, perhaps the most pivotal period to address the carbon and net zero challenges for our customers.
