Presented by Datapipe on the Equinix Stand at IBC 2015 Through a collaboration with Equinix, Datapipe delivers a flexible hybrid architecture that meets the growing demand from digital media organizations.
The document discusses how digital disruption is transforming enterprise IT architectures to be more user-centric and interconnected. It describes the challenges of aging infrastructure, more data and users/devices in more places. To address these challenges, the document proposes an Interconnection Oriented Architecture (IOA) that interconnects people, locations, clouds and data using a hub-based model with performance, ecosystem and data hubs to optimize user experience, bandwidth costs, multi-cloud access and analytics.

Megatrends are driving more data and digital connectivity needs globally. This is shifting IT infrastructure demands and fueling growth of the digital economy. To keep pace, organizations need new levels of interconnection that allow real-time integration across partners, customers, employees and locations. Equinix's global interconnection platform in over 100 data centers addresses these needs by providing businesses direct access to networks, clouds, and each other to accelerate performance and unlock new opportunities.
Building direct, secure, and reliable connectivity to cloud service providers with Equinix’s Performance Hub and the Equinix Cloud Exchange allows companies to bypass the public Internet and take advantage of the benefits of cloud computing. Performance Hub extends a company's network into Equinix data centers, enabling private connections to over 975 networks and 450 cloud providers. The Equinix Cloud Exchange provides seamless, high-performance access to multiple clouds across the globe through virtual circuits. This allows enterprises to build sophisticated hybrid cloud solutions securely and with improved performance over public internet options.
As cloud usage takes off, data production grows exponentially, content pushes closer to the edge, and end users demand data and applications at all hours from all locations, the ability to seamless interconnect with cloud services becomes more pivotal to Enterprise IT transformation. In this session we will share what interconnection oriented architecture is and the reasons why certain enterprises have chosen this architecture to future proof their IT investments. We will also examine a joint solution with our partner ViewQwest and how to extend it with certain AWS use cases. Vijay Rangarajan, Partner Solutions Architect, Amazon Web Services, APAC Eric M. Brian Lillie, CIO of Equinix, discusses Equinix's adoption of Splunk Cloud for its security information and event management (SIEM) needs. Equinix wanted a cloud SIEM solution for its flexibility, subscription pricing model, and ease of deployment compared to an on-premises SIEM. Splunk Cloud met Equinix's needs out of the box by handling different data types and providing security analytics. Equinix now uses Splunk Cloud for malware protection, user account protection, data leakage protection, and has seen promising results like reducing raw events to only 20 actionable alerts.

Equinix is pitching their partnership with Microsoft to drive hybrid cloud solutions and Azure consumption. As the largest global provider of internet exchange points and carrier-neutral data centers, Equinix argues that locating workloads in their data centers and connecting to Azure via ExpressRoute provides customers the highest performance and most secure connections to help accelerate cloud migrations and increase Azure spending. The presentation provides case studies of customers who worked with Equinix and saw benefits like reduced latency, faster migration timelines, and increased Azure consumption revenue. Equinix proposes joint sales engagement, enablement workshops, and account planning to strengthen the Microsoft-Equinix partnership and cloud selling motions.
