Happy one-year countdown to the European Accessibility Act (EAA) deadline for those who observe 🇪🇺 While panic is never advised, now is a good time to understand how this deadline is going to impact your business if you trade within the EU. This way, you can plan your course of action accordingly.   With an abundance of confusing and sometimes even conflicting information out there, here are some resources I found helpful to begin untangling this topic:  - This article which gives a good, even if brief, introduction to the EAA: https://lnkd.in/db6FUy5v. Also, check out the summary coming from the EU themselves: https://lnkd.in/dWBNrHzW - This blog post by Craig Abbott for a deeper dive, with a focus on the UK: https://lnkd.in/dg42-9tV - Webinar Q&As like this one from Abilitynet, which addresses common questions: https://lnkd.in/d2QUr8hj - From a business case perspective it's useful to keep an eye on the penalties that different EU states will implement regarding non-compliance. So far Ireland have defined theirs as "up to €60,000 and/or imprisonment of up to 18 months": https://lnkd.in/dgRJHeps - Make sure you are familiar with the EN 301 459 standard, which is required by the EAA and extends beyond WCAG. This short article explains the relationship: https://lnkd.in/dSge7hxF

  • The meme image shows Charlie, a character from the show Always Sunny in Philadelphia, in front of a wall covered in papers, writings and a red thread connecting all of them, with a wild look on his face, waving his right hand and excitedly explaining the relationship between all of this information. At the bottom of the image are the words "European Accessibility Act"

Thanks for including AbilityNet in your list 😊 did you know we also have an EAA webinar this Wednesday?
