This month, we welcomed Timothy and Zabiba to Nomensa for a 6-week UX & Accessibility internship. They will be working on a hypothetical project crafted by our very own Jamie Lanc and Joel Strohmeier, with a thought-provoking topic: how AI and related technology integrated into physical spaces can help achieve public sector goals. This is an ED&I and future talent initiative that Nomensa is proud to support for the third year. The opportunity is brought to us by The Strive Internship (hl.co.uk), Bristol City Council and The Mayor's Office. For more information on what the programme has achieved, please visit Strive Impact Report 2023 by following this link https://lnkd.in/gJp3vDjm. Last week, our interns were invited to an open event at Hargreaves Lansdown's Bristol HQ to network with fellow interns and potential employers.

I attended Collaborate Bristol | The South West's leading design conference. I enjoyed all the talks🌞, the presentations from Kerry Harrison on all things AI, Hannah Atkinson about inclusivity, the Condé Nast team, and Astrid van Waveren on embracing ambiguity motivated me. I also enjoyed interacting with live installations🧮 and learning about the barriers faced by those with disabilities. Thank you Nomensa🥳 #bristol #collaboratebristol24 #conference

Loved attending Nomensa’s Collaborate Bristol 2024 today. Brilliant to hear so much about inclusive language, how to use AI with human input bookending the output and of course hear so much about accessibility in all its forms. Great to bump into Matthew Lawes and Lewis Royal too!

Thanks Nomensa for hosting another wonderful event. It’s always great to listen to others talk about their experience of collaborating within multidisciplinary teams. My highlight was looking at how existentialism can be considered by UX practioners to shift mindsets when facing challenges and working with uncertainty. Already looking forward to the next event!

And so ends a wonderful, informative, and engaging day at the Collaborate conference in Bristol. I met a bunch of great folks, chatted about challenges in using AI ethically, involving users in various ways, UX design, and - unsurprisingly - collaboration. The empathy lab was awesome as well - can't wait to get our own set up at Centre for Digital Public Services / Canolfan Gwasanaethau Cyhoeddus Digidol. Big thanks to Nomensa for hosting, and the speakers such as Heldiney Pereira 🇺🇦 , Astrid van Waveren, Simon Kisner, and all the other lovely folks up on stage.
