Do you know a 12-14 year old interested in technology or dance who is looking for a way to spend 1 week of their summer? Let us tell you about DIGITAL L E A P Digital Leap is a FREE week-long summer school, by Pell Ensemble & Partner Company U Can Too, aimed at exciting young students about the creative uses of technology. Across the week students will explore how physical computing can be incorporated into a performance. They will then ideate, design and build physical computing interactions by embedding their products into their own performance choreographed by the students themselves. That will be shared at the end of each week! Through generous funding, we are delivering this programme twice this summer, and we still have some spaces remaining for our second which will take place across the week of 8th - 12th August in East London. • Week 1 : Aug 1st-Aug 5th at East Summer School : FULL • Week 2 : Aug 8th-12th at Nexus Community Centre, Leytonstone : SPACES REMAINING Registration www.pellensemble/digital-and-coding-1 Interested to know more? Digital Leap is a pioneering week-long summer programme that aims to inspire students to take the jump into a creative digital world. Through collaboration, Pell Ensemble and U Can Too have developed a unique teaching style of movement, programming and physical computing, that will see participants work together to build an interactive digital dance performance based on the theme 'Future Worlds'. This theme will be inspired by the United Nations' #GlobalGoals for 2030 ending the week with a public sharing of the performance. Aimed at students ages 12-14, this programme will generate excitement, build confidence and introduce skills, encouraging students to move forwards with a career in computing and or the creative digital industries. This opportunity is for up to 30 students per week. Due to the funding that we have gained, we are delighted that we can offer all student places on the programme for FREE. Each day includes at least 60 minutes each of dance, computing and design. Alongside this female or female-identifying speakers with careers in creative technologies and the digital sector will speak about their experience in the field. Free lunches will be provided and travel stipends are available to students currently receiving free school meals. No previous experience in dance or computing is needed but those with a pre-existing interest and knowledge-base are also welcomed.
