Developing your negotiation skills is crucial to building successful partnerships – and for your career growth! During our last Women in Partnerships roundtable, the speakers recommended reading "Never Split the Difference" by Chris Voss. If you’re looking to develop your negotiation skills try practicing 3 strategies from the book - and check out the self-assessment rubric from our roundtable speakers linked in the comments! 🔄 The Importance of Mirroring Simple yet powerful, repeating the last three words (or the critical one to three words) of what someone has just said can build rapport and encourage them to expand further. 💬 Labeling Emotions Identify and articulate the emotions of the other party. Phrases like "It seems like..." or "It sounds like..." can help diffuse tension and foster a collaborative atmosphere. 🙅♀️ The 'No' Tactic Encouraging a "No" from the other side can move the conversation forward. It makes the counterpart feel safe and in control, allowing for more honest dialogue. By incorporating these techniques into your daily interactions, you’ll be better equipped to navigate complex discussions and reach mutually beneficial agreements. Don’t forget to share your experiences and insights in the comments below! #NeverSplitTheDifference #NegotiationSkills #PersonalDevelopment #WomenInPartnerships
