We are delighted to welcome two new interns to the team today! They will be with us throughout the summer, providing support across a range of essential functions. Please join us in welcoming Kornkamol S. who is joining the data science team to help work on building data processing pipelines for multimodal VCM data, and Gabriella Leuthner who will be working with the underwriting and partnership teams to help clients understand and transfer the risk in their carbon investments and purchases. Many of our past interns have become invaluable members of our staff and we never fail to be blown away by the drive, intelligence and commitment of the people who come to work with us at an early stage in their climate career. It bodes well for the future. #carboninsurance #climatecareer #carbonmarkets

💡 "We wouldn’t insure a carbon project that we don’t think is a quality carbon project" 💡 It was such a pleasure speaking to Rich Stockdale PhD of Oxygen Conservation for the latest episode of the Shoot Room Sessions. The conversation was insightful, nuanced and optimistic. Kita's CEO and Co-founder, Natalia Dorfman, outlined the story of how Kita was established (spoiler: a recognition that insurance was completely missing in all the discussions around how to develop carbon solutions), the values that drive the work we do, the way we structure the products and services we offer, our place within the insurance ecosystem, the need for greater engagement and collaboration across risk stakeholders, and a whole raft of other points. The clip below offers a teaser but it's worth checking out the whole episode. Watch it here: https://lnkd.in/eUvDjSCu #carboninsurance #carbonmarkets #riskmanagement

❓ How can we bring greater integrity to the VCM❓ It's an ongoing, deeply-complicated, ever-evolving question. We don't claim to have all the answers but at Kita we are seeking to develop products and services that bring about integrity, trust and confidence in the market. We believe that this has the potential to drive investment and, in turn, to scale-up growth in high-quality carbon solutions. Together with International Carbon Registry, we have co-authored an in-depth blog which provides insight to: - How GHG programmes and insurance (alongside other ‘risk stakeholders') work together to provide rigorous scrutiny and frameworks by which quality projects can be assessed and monitored over time - The specific risks that insurance companies assess and protect against, and how insurance can offer greater security to market stakeholders - How the collaboration between Kita and International Carbon Registry brings benefit to VCM stakeholders - What can be done to encourage greater deployment of insurance policies across the VCM Read the full blog, authored by Oli Torfason of ICR and Natalia Dorfman of Kita, here: https://lnkd.in/e62C3j3s On 16th July, we will also be hosting a webinar that delves into how insurance bolsters the integrity and credibility of carbon credits. 💫 Kita and Wilder Carbon announce world first “Buffer Insurance” policy for Wilder Carbon’s buffer pool 💫 The last few weeks have seen us sharing some key developments for Kita. We are thrilled to add another significant announcement, with the launch of our new product, Buffer Depletion Protection Cover. This insurance policy will protect the integrity of Wilder Carbon’s buffer pool against depletion events, for example in the instance of unexpected levels of reversal in the underlying carbon projects. The provision of Buffer Depletion Protection Cover aims to increase confidence and integrity for Wilder Carbon’s stakeholders by providing a credit-worthy safeguard against loss and a complement to Wilder Carbon’s existing strong risk mitigation tools. Capacity for this policy is provided by specialist (re)insurer, Chaucer Group. We strongly believe that insurance represents the next evolution of buffer pools; providing increased resilience against reversal and default and acting as a signal of confidence for market participants.  ➡ Find out more in our press release: https://lnkd.in/eA_MgR_Y ➡ Learn more about the integration of buffer pools and insurance in our in-depth report: https://lnkd.in/eGtSmy5x #carboninsurance #bufferpools #riskmanagement
