They could not digest a young tribal as CM: Hemant
Ranchi: Hemant Soren on Thursday said he was forced to resign as chief minister (CM) in a false case as his opponents could not digest a young tribal like him assuming a high office.
In a video message posted on his X handle before he was sworn in as the 13th CM of the state, Hemant said he was ready to return among the people and his objective would be to uphold the rights of the poor and downtrodden people.

Hemant began by reminding his audience how he, hours before his arrest by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on January 31, had posted that he was being forced to resign from office owing to a fabricated case.
“My opponents hatched a conspiracy against me and they were successful in keeping me in jail for five months. I fought a legal battle and you all supported me by descending on to the streets. Eventually, the judiciary granted me bail and stated that I was innocent. All of you have given me a mandate in 2019 to give our state a new direction and to serve you. But my opponents could not digest the fact that a young tribal man was holding such an important office,” he claimed.
Thanking the electors for displaying ‘Jharkhandi Ekta’ in the recently held Lok Sabha polls, Hemant, with an eye on the upcoming assembly elections, reiterated that his focus was to become the voice of the “Adivasis, Moolvasis, Dalits, minorities, poor, and downtrodden”.
“In the past few years, I tried to reach all of your doorsteps. They put brakes on our development work by putting me in jail. Now I am coming back amongst you all and all my decisions would be for the poor and the marginalised. I will try to speed up development,” he said.
Hemant added that the cabinet will be named soon.
