After Crossings, NHAI builds link between NH-9 and Bulandshahr
Ghaziabad: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has opened a service road along NH-9 to provide a link to Bulandshahr industrial area with the speedway.
Earlier, vehicles from the industrial cluster to Delhi had to travel all the way to Lal Kuan side and cross over to NH-9 through an underpass. The underpass is also used by vehicles coming from Aligarh, Khurja and Sikandarabad.

The narrow underpass is mostly snarled up due to heavy traffic flow throughout the year and also witnesses intense flooding during the rains.

The new link road open up a second route and is expected to ease the movement of goods vehicles and commuters mainly from the industrial area towards Delhi.
An NHAI official told TOI that the trader’s community has been for long demanding direct access to NH-9.
“After long deliberation, NHAI decided to connect the areas by opening a service road along NH-9 towards the Delhi side. The service road is approximately 500m long and will pass through the Bamheta underpass before it connects with NH-9,” the official said.

Atul Singhal, an industrialist from the cluster, said there was multiple access to the highway before the DME was made access controlled. “Subsequently, the underpass at Lal Kuan became the focal point and saw huge traffic influx leading to jams,” he said.
In April, NHAI merged the plinth and removed barricades to link Shaberi Road with NH-9 near the ABES cut, providing nearly 1 lakh residents of Crossings Republik township direct access to the speedway and the Delhi Meerut Expressway. A second loop, allowing vehicles from NH-9 to take a right turn towards the township on the Shaberi Road, was opened soon after.
