Have enough kits to determine dengue cases, says BBMP chief
BENGALURU: Civic officials conducted 279 dengue tests on June 30, and 65 of them returned with positive results, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the city to 1,902 this year.
According to BBMP officials, there were only 732 dengue cases reported between Jan and June in 2023; this year, the number has trebled. Meanwhile, BBMP chief commissioner Tushar Giri Nath said the Palike has a sufficient number of NS1 antigen test kits for early diagnosis of dengue.
Doctors at urban primary health centres are testing those visiting with fever for dengue. Currently, the Palike has over 6,000 kits; it will get more from the govt.

According to BBMP sources, the civic body had conducted dengue tests on 8,114 individuals till the end of June. Meanwhile, health and family welfare minister Dinesh Gundu Rao held a meeting Tuesday with senior officials from the health department and BBMP to control dengue cases in Bengaluru.
