BBMP audit confirms 1 dengue death, 213 new cases in Bengaluru
BENGALURU: Two days after two individuals died due to suspected dengue, a BBMP audit has confirmed one - a 27-year-old man from Kaggadasapura - was a victim of the vector-borne disease, and the other was a cancer patient and dengue was not the cause of her death.
The confirmation comes amid a sharp rise in dengue cases in the city. With 213 fresh cases confirmed on Friday and Saturday, the total number of dengue infections in the city in the first 29 days of June touched 1,742.
On Friday, BBMP officials said two individuals had died presumably due to dengue.
A health audit on Saturday determined the exact cause of death. The report confirmed the man from Kaggadasapura died of dengue, while it ruled out dengue as the cause of death of an 80-year-old woman.
According to BBMP officials, the 27-year-old was admitted to a private hospital on June 25 with a history of fever and died on June 27 due to multiple-organ dysfunction syndrome. BBMP submitted the report to the state government on Saturday.
