Bergen Engines produces medium-speed engines and generator sets for a broad range of land-based, commercial marine, and naval applications. The Bergen name is a watchword for quality and reliability in its field. The tradition of engineering in Bergen, Norway, dates to 1855 when the original company Bergen Mekaniske Verksted (BMV) was founded. In 1946, the company built its first diesel engine and has since commissioned over 7,500 iconic liquid and gas fueled engines. Around half of them are still in operation today; such is the quality and reliability of a Bergen engine. Formerly Rolls-Royce Bergen Engines, on 31st December 2021, the company became part of the privately owned British engineering group, Langley Holdings plc Today, the business employs more than 900 people across the world from their Norwegian headquarter and nine subsidiary offices.

These engines offer reduced fuel consumption compared to high-speed alternatives, making them both cost-effective and environmentally friendly for continuous power applications. #NewOrder: Bergen Engines is set to provide four C25:33L8A generating sets to support the world’s largest hydrogen ferries, operating on Norway’s longest ferry connection from Bodø to Lofoten. The ferries, commissioned by Torghatten Nord AS, have been designed by The Norwegian Ship Design Company and will be constructed by Myklebust Verft AS. Leveraging locally produced hydrogen and a diverse range of Norwegian suppliers, these vessels will revolutionize maritime transportation and showcase the depth of knowledge and innovation within Norway’s maritime industry. 🌊⚓ Through this project, Torghatten Nord will become the first major purchaser of #hydrogen in Norway, contributing significantly to the further advancement of the Norwegian hydrogen industry. 👏🏻🌳 Read more at the link below.
