#HotOffThePress - We will supply a fully integrated, mechanical drive, propulsion package, including our high-performance Wärtsilä 25DF dual-fuel main engine, for new 6000 dwt LNG-fuelled tankers being built for British fleet operator James Fisher Everard Ltd., part of the James Fisher group of companies. Under increasing pressure to reduce emissions, tanker owners are exploring solutions that will support the decarbonisation of their fleet and offer improved fuel economy, lower emissions, and flexibility in fuelling choices. Wärtsilä’s 25DF engine can support these ambitions, helping customers to deliver an efficient and low-emissions fleet. “Fleet future proofing is of utmost importance for operators today as the industry undergoes its transformation towards optimal efficiencies and decarbonised operations. The selection of our propulsion package, centered around the Wärtsilä 25DF engine, is a clear indication of how James Fisher is looking for suppliers with a strong focus on research and development, and which offer technological competence, systems integration capabilities, and in-service support for all elements of the package.” - Stefan Nysjö, Vice President of Power Supply, Wärtsilä Marine. "One of my passions as a kid was building things out of Lego – I enjoyed trying to understand how something worked and then replicate it using the plastic bricks. It was this same curiosity that, years later, led me to become an engineer and then, even later, to lead businesses through transformation." - Håkan Agnevall, President and CEO, Wärtsilä Corporation From our humble beginnings in 1834 as a sawmill in the village of Värtsilä, we've grown and evolved into a leading energy and marine industry technology provider. Our journey since 1834 is one of innovation and transformation. "Here’s to many more years of embracing curiosity, creativity and collaboration, and let’s never lose that passion for working together to build a better, more sustainable future." #Wartsila190 #FuelYourPower #innovation #transformation

#HotOffThePress – We have supplied our new dual-fuel engine simulator technology for WMI Wavelink Maritime Institute, the maritime training arm of the Singapore Maritime Officers' Union / Wavelink Group (SMOU). The navigational and technological simulators are a central feature of the simulation suite at WMI, which was recently inaugurated by H.E. Ms. Grace FU Hai Yien, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations of the Republic of Singapore. Sustainable fuels will be integral to the maritime industry’s goal of achieving net zero in shipping by 2050. However, an important part of this transition requires the crew to be upskilled to handle these new and alternative fuels. The state-of-the-art Wärtsilä simulator technology trains seafarers in the latest efficiency concepts and prepares them to operate with the next generation of marine fuels. “We are pleased to continue our strong relationship with WMI. Climate regulation is pushing for constant improvement in fuel efficiency to drive down emissions meaning alternative and transition fuels will play a significant role in achieving these goals. The new simulation suite with Wärtsilä technology provides realistic training opportunities that will allow their graduates to safely operate technologically advanced vessels, whilst preparing them for shipping’s decarbonised future.”  - Kiran Kumar Varanasi, Product Sales Manager at Wärtsilä Marine Learn more in our press release.👉https://wartsi.ly/3zw5hKi #Singapore #simulator #technology

The maritime industry's drive to meet ambitious decarbonisation targets is racing against stringent regulatory deadlines. Switching existing vessels to cleaner fuels could be an important interim solution, buying precious time in the push towards net zero. By 2050, thousands of large ships may still be running on fossil fuels. The question is, can retrofitting their engines for new, cleaner fuels help us stay on course? The potential exists, but how ready are the technology and the industry to take on these conversions? To shed light on this complex issue, Stam Achillas, Head of Business Development and Sales 2-stroke/Decarbonisation Solutions at Wärtsilä Marine, sat down with Mark Penfold, Technical Director at Lloyd's Register to explore the intricacies of transitioning to cleaner fuels. The insightful podcast was moderated by Edwin Lampert from Riviera Maritime Media Ltd. Tune in today. 👉https://lnkd.in/gEzTkVMR Shared via Lloyd's Register. Here are some of the topics that were discussed. 🎙️The technical challenges in converting existing vessels to run on alternative fuels. 🎙️The maturity of the regulatory framework related to methanol and ammonia as marine fuels. 🎙️Fuel pathways and aspects of fuel flexibility. 🎙️The capacity and required technical capabilities of retrofit yards. 🎙️The commercial drivers for large retrofits. 🎙️The potential role of “Ready” labels in accelerating decarbonisation. 🎙️What makes a vessel a prime retrofit candidate? #maritime #retrofits #decarbonisation #SustainableFuels #EnergyTransition

Your fuel choice affects both your profitability and your vessel’s environmental compliance. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is a safe and cost-effective fuel that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful pollutants. LNG plays a key role as a transition fuel and is widely seen as the first step towards decarbonising the maritime industry. Switching to LNG as fuel for ship propulsion requires investment but can save you fuel costs, increase your profitability and reduce compliance risks. Here are 17 important questions on using LNG as a marine fuel. https://wartsi.ly/3LgVYjG Wärtsilä Marine | #LNG #NatGas #AlternativeFuel #decarbonisation
