I've just installed Blender this week to try and fix a gap between a character's neck and her body. The gap is the result of taking the head from one GTA V character (NPC/Ped) and placing it on another. I've tried closing the gap completely but that causes animation issues as these models have facial animations including at idle. Just to clarify, the head swap itself was not done in Blender, it was done by extracting models using the OpenIV software (exporting in openformats). The swap went smoothly from a technical perspective but unfortunately the gap and the neck is an eyesore. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Gap is much less apparent in Blender, and in game will show up as the model animates through idle or other movement.

If the animations are what is making it more apparent then my guess is that you'd have to refine the weight paints for the armature and the 2 new pieces. Maybe take a look at what the original head looks like and try to match it as close as possible $\endgroup$

  • $\begingroup$ @ Cornivius. The frustrating part about this, aside from having almost zero experience with 3D modelling myself, is the lack of documentation for creating or converting GTA V models (called drawables or fragments). A plugin was created to import to Blender and export back into the GTA V ydr format...but once more it's trial and error and expertise isn't offered or shared in the modding community. $\endgroup$ Commented Jun 30 at 5:03
