Equinix's 7 Bold Predictions for the Connected Enterprise in 2017Equinix
Read details of each prediction from the official Equinix blog: http://eqix.it/2hn1bdh
We can’t predict the future of the entire IT industry, but we sit at an unusually good vantage point at Equinix to make an educated, data-driven forecast about what we see coming. That’s because we have the capability to look at what’s trending with more than 8,000 customers across 21 markets within ecosystems that sit at the center of cloud, IoT and analytics growth. And the patterns we are seeing show a massive digital transformation under way.
Digital has disrupted business as usual, and new revenue models and ways of competing are taking hold. To successfully make the shift to digital business, organizations are realizing they need transform IT by “flipping” their architectures from siloed and fixed to integrated and dynamic. This shift requires an interconnection-first strategy that enables enterprises and service providers to directly and securely connect their partners, customers and end users to anything, anywhere, on any device. Digital businesses simply can’t compete without an integrated and dynamic strategy to make that happen.
As things change quickly, we're taking advantage of our special perspective at the center of it all to predict what you can expect in “7 Bold Predictions for the Connected Enterprise.” We’ll be exploring these predictions in more detail in the coming days, but these previews will get us started.

Equinix and IDC Webinar - Trends Transforming Digital ConnectivityEquinix
This document discusses trends transforming digital connectivity and interconnection strategies. It summarizes research finding that interconnection bandwidth is expected to outpace internet and MPLS traffic growth. Interconnection enables organizations to more easily work together across networks, financial services, cloud computing, and content/digital media. The document then discusses how Equinix's interconnection services like ECX Fabric can help enterprises securely connect to multiple cloud services either locally or remotely. It also discusses how these services can help enterprises connect their own distributed infrastructure and ensure business continuity. Finally, it discusses how these services provide advantages to service providers by allowing them to access customers, connect to clouds in more metros, and leverage the largest interconnected ecosystem.
Digital transformation requires addressing three key factors: speed, volume, and gravity. An Interconnection Oriented Architecture (IOA) strategy involves building distributed hybrid/multicloud deployments within proximity to users, data, and clouds. This is done in four steps: 1) placing local network hubs, 2) connecting clouds over private interconnection, 3) deploying security controls, and 4) integrating data for cloud adjacency and residency. This IOA strategy solves for latency, volume, agility, compliance, and data exchange needs of the digital enterprise.
EZ Cloud Connect from Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) is designed to address these concerns and offers businesses a one-stop solution that, along with eliminating multiple-entry interaction is SLA-compliant and easily operable.

Cloud computing refers to accessing software and data storage over the internet rather than locally. There are three main types of cloud services - Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). SaaS provides end users access to online applications, PaaS provides developers platforms to build apps, and IaaS provides network architects computational resources like storage, servers, and networking. Cloud computing offers advantages like reduced costs, scalability, and accessibility but also risks like dependence on providers and potential performance issues.
Cloud computing refers to accessing computational resources like applications and data storage over the internet instead of locally. There are several types of cloud services including Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). Cloud computing provides advantages like reduced costs, increased reliability, and accessibility from any device with an internet connection. However, there are also risks like dependence on cloud providers and potential performance issues. The future of cloud computing is expected to include continued cost reductions and increased adoption across organizations of all sizes for both public and private cloud solutions.

Mitigating the Impact of State Management in Cloud Stream Processing SystemsScyllaDB
Stream processing is a crucial component of modern data infrastructure, but constructing an efficient and scalable stream processing system can be challenging. Decoupling compute and storage architecture has emerged as an effective solution to these challenges, but it can introduce high latency issues, especially when dealing with complex continuous queries that necessitate managing extra-large internal states.
In this talk, we focus on addressing the high latency issues associated with S3 storage in stream processing systems that employ a decoupled compute and storage architecture. We delve into the root causes of latency in this context and explore various techniques to minimize the impact of S3 latency on stream processing performance. Our proposed approach is to implement a tiered storage mechanism that leverages a blend of high-performance and low-cost storage tiers to reduce data movement between the compute and storage layers while maintaining efficient processing.
Throughout the talk, we will present experimental results that demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in mitigating the impact of S3 latency on stream processing. By the end of the talk, attendees will have gained insights into how to optimize their stream processing systems for reduced latency and improved cost-efficiency.

Best Practices for Effectively Running dbt in Airflow.pdfTatiana Al-Chueyr
As a popular open-source library for analytics engineering, dbt is often used in combination with Airflow. Orchestrating and executing dbt models as DAGs ensures an additional layer of control over tasks, observability, and provides a reliable, scalable environment to run dbt models.
This webinar will cover a step-by-step guide to Cosmos, an open source package from Astronomer that helps you easily run your dbt Core projects as Airflow DAGs and Task Groups, all with just a few lines of code. We’ll walk through:
- Standard ways of running dbt (and when to utilize other methods)
- How Cosmos can be used to run and visualize your dbt projects in Airflow
- Common challenges and how to address them, including performance, dependency conflicts, and more
- How running dbt projects in Airflow helps with cost optimization
