Luas is 20! With over 10,000 new jobs created along its corridors, half a billion trips made over its lifetime, zero emissions at street level and extensive housing development enabled, Dublin’s Luas LRT system is a modern-day public transport success story. Opening in 2004, constructed on time and within budget, Luas is now truly a part of Dublin – last year 48 million journeys were made on its network and 390,000 people now live within 1km of a Luas stop. Working for Transport Infrastructure Ireland alongside Transport for London Consulting, Wonder Works and Interactions Research, we have produced an easy-to-read report showing the societal, economic and environmental benefits of the Luas network. See below for a copy:
Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has published the Luas Benefits Report 2024 which highlights the positive contribution that Luas has made to living, working and socialising in Dublin in its first twenty years. 🚋 Luas has been a catalyst for creating a more sustainable, connected, and productive capital. It has redrawn the map of Dublin, transformed people’s lives, and improved the quality of life of those it serves. In the last twenty years over, 10,000 jobs new to the Irish economy have been located along the Luas corridors. During this time, a total of 650 million passengers have travelled on Luas. In 2023, Luas carried over 48 million passengers and we’re set to welcome over 50 million passengers in 2024. Looking to the future, as part of the Luas 2050 vision, TII is helping to expand Luas through plans to progress and deliver lines to Finglas, Lucan, Poolbeg, and Bray as well as connecting Luas to MetroLink offering a link to Dublin Airport. In partnership with the NTA, TII is developing a preferred route for Luas in Cork, the first Luas line outside of the Greater Dublin Area. Luas is at the heart of a long-term transport network for our cities. TII, along with our partners, is proud to be making this happen. In the latest episode of Strategy in Transit, we look at how Toronto is balancing sustainability efforts within its customer-centric transportation networks. As the region seeks to decarbonize, leaders have not only implemented critical green technologies — from electrification and hydrogen fuel infrastructure to public EV charging and sustainable building standards — but have connected with communities to ensure alignment with public needs. In a lively discussion, leaders from Metrolinx, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), and the Ontario Ministry of Transportation/ Ministère des Transports de l’Ontario (MTO), discuss what these efforts look like across their organizations — and how they’re keeping customers informed at each step of the decarbonization journey. Tune in to learn how these organizations are driving regional sustainability through transparent reporting and stakeholder engagement: https://lnkd.in/eyJrmzFR #AECOM #StrategyInTransit #Decarbonization

As Pride Month and Juneteenth celebrations wrap up, we’re reflecting on the amazing experiences Jill Kurth, Dale Griner, Matt T., Amy Hayes, Yaya Vega, Silvia Jacobs, Lucy Anna Bradbury and Laura Coll Martínez had proudly marching down Hollywood Boulevard in the Los Angeles parade. This year's #PowerinPride event was a fantastic celebration of the best LA has to offer and the embodiment of our belief that when we’re free to be ourselves, we thrive. On Juneteenth, our Vice President of Economic Inclusion and Social Impact Ken Billups and the South California BeBold Employee Resource Group gathered at Harold & Belle's Creole restaurant — reflecting on the day and its impact. Thank you to our teams for embodying our values and supporting communities across LA.
