Happy 4th of July! Independence Day celebrates our freedom, unity, and progress. Our work in civil engineering, from designing safer roads to creating sustainable water management solutions, reflects our commitment to these values and our dedication to enhancing lives for a better tomorrow.

Please join us in congratulating Kaci Schlachter, PE on her election as Secretary for the AWBD At-Large Board of Trustees! As an AWBD Ambassador, Kaci has been an invaluable contributor to the Association of Water Board Directors - Texas. Her dedication also extends to community service and philanthropy, where she proudly serves on the Board of Directors for the Quiddity Foundation. Her commitment and hard work have truly paid off. We're excited to see the positive impact she'll have in her new position!

A huge congratulations to Ryan Schilhab, PE for graduating from the Class of 2023-2024 AWBD Emerging Leaders program! We're extremely proud of you and can't wait to see the difference you'll make in the industry!

Amy Stonaker, P.E. is a Senior Engineer with 20 years of experience, 11 of which have been with Quiddity’s Katy office. As a member of Quiddity’s Women’s Network, Amy values working with other women and seeing young women flourish. “Working with other women and watching young women flourish in engineering is so exciting to see and help be a part of developing women in the industry,” she says. Additionally, Amy emphasizes the impact Quiddity has had on her career, stating, “Quiddity has helped me develop my technical skills by being on the forefront of water and wastewater treatment plant engineering in the State of Texas. Quiddity has also helped me maintain my work/life balance with my family through the entirety of my career.”

Sherri McElwee, P.E. is a Land Development Manager with 27 years of experience in Quiddity’s Bellaire Office. As a member of Quiddity’s Women’s Network, Sherri values the opportunity to mentor other women and finds it highly rewarding. “My favorite aspect of this group has been the opportunity to have an impact on other women in the group. I really enjoy the time that we spend each month and building relationships with all the women in Quiddity.” Sherri believes, “As more women enter our field and assume leadership roles, they inspire more women to enter the field. This is evident with the number of women engineers in the company almost equal to the number of men. This was not the case when I entered the field when there were few women in the field and fewer in leadership roles.” Additionally, she states, “Resilience is key to success. Remember that your voice and opinion are important. Your ideas should be heard.”

On Women in Engineering Day, we celebrate the remarkable contributions of women in our industry. Your talent and dedication inspire us and make a significant impact on the world. We are grateful to have you in our Quiddity engineering community, and we thank you for shaping a brighter future through your work.

Our team had an amazing time at the 2024 AWBD Annual Conference! Congratulations to Duncan Flintoff, GISP, Ashley Hinkle, K. Grady Turner III, P.E., and Kaci Schlachter, PE on their successful presentations. We hope everyone enjoyed our client appreciation party and can't wait to return next year!

Abigail Allen, P.E. is a Transportation Project Engineer with over six years of experience in Quiddity’s Plano office. As a member of Quiddity’s Women’s Network, she values the opportunities she has found to lead and support the network. “I am encouraged to see how many women here are willing to mentor and invest in the younger EIT’s beginning their careers,” she says. “My favorite aspect of the Women’s Network has been meeting other women outside of my own office and learning from their experiences.” Additionally, Abigail emphasized the influence of Quiddity’s Women's Network, stating, “They have provided me with sound advice throughout my career, and I enjoy collaborating with them. It is also encouraging to see lots of women here successfully balancing their career and life outside the office.”
