MechSyn is fully on board! After official start of EXIST - Existenzgründungen aus der Wissenschaft funding in April, we've had two successful kick-off meetings. One with our scientific advisors, including our mentor Ferdi Schüth, Wolfram Stichert, and Alexander Gunnarson to plan our journey ahead. Another one yesterday with our EXIST committee members Dirk Friedrich and Dennis Griesbach, who have been very supportive of our ideas and plans from the beginning. We were happy to host all at the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung. Let's take a step further for a better world! 🌍 Last week, our founder Dr. Özgül Agbaba had the privilege to speak at a Founder's Café event organized by the KOALA Startup Network, including Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion and Start4Chem Inkubator. The event, #FoundersCafe, was a meeting of like-minded people aimed at contributing to a sustainable future. during her talk, Özgül shared insights on the story of MechSyn and the benefit of mechanochemical methods highlighting them as a potential solution for sustainable practices. We are thrilled to announce that our mentor, Prof. Dr. Ferdi Schüth, has once again been awarded an ERC grant! 🎉 As one of the pioneers in the field of mechanochemistry, Ferdi's passion for unraveling the mysteries of mechanochemical impacts knows no bounds. With this latest grant, he aims to delve deeper into a long-standing question in ball milling: the existence of hot spots at collision points. 🔬 While at MechSyn we focus on scaling up the synthesis of high-performance materials by mechanochemistry to hundreds of kilo scale, Ferdi Schüth's group will be investigating the strength of forces at atomic scale. 🚀 Dr. Özgül Agbaba ist mit ihrem Start-up „MechSyn“, das sie gemeinsam mit Kolleginnen und Kollegen aus dem Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung an den Start gebracht hat, auf Erfolgskurs. Sie hat mit ihrem Start-up erfolgreich Fördermittel beim Exist-Forschungstransferprogramm des Bundeswirtschaftsministeriums in Höhe von mehr als 1,26 Million Euro eingeworben. Nun beginnt für das noch junge „MechSyn“-Team die nächste, spannende Phase. „MechSyn“ beschäftigt sich mit Mechanochemie, also Chemie beispielsweise aus der Kugelmühle. „Wir wollen die derzeitigen sehr energieintensiven Prozesse in Angriff nehmen und sie in nachhaltigere und umweltfreundlichere umwandeln“, sagt Agbaba. https://lnkd.in/dJhSDbbC Christian Bürger, Marc Meyer

It's official!🍾 MechSyn has been granted 1.26 million Euros for the synthesis of high performance materials via mechanochemistry 🎉 The project is funded by the EXIST program of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and the European Social Fund. The funding will accelerate the development of our patented mechanochemical synthesis processes and the scale-up of the production for our innovative materials. We are very confident that this will enable us to make a remarkable contribution to an even wider range of industries and applications, whether in the development of more efficient catalysts, catalyst supports, higher performance alternatives for PEM fuel cell materials, and many other solutions for the chemical, electronics, automotive and aerospace industries in the near future. We are grateful for the confidence shown in our project and our team, and for the great interest in our solutions and technologies.
