About us
FWD (The Federation of Wholesale Distributors) is the trade association for food and drink wholesalers in the UK. Our members provide food and associated products to over 400,000 retail and catering businesses, either by direct delivery or via cash and carry depots. Their customers range from small independent stores to large restaurant chains, and from local coffee shops to hospitals and schools. As well as providing the perfect product mix for each of these diverse businesses, wholesalers support their customers with merchandising materials, business advice, training courses and inspirational ideas. We also work with product suppliers to help them take advantage of the opportunity to grow their brands through partnerships with FWD members. FWD’s membership includes companies which provide services to the wholesale channel, such as market insight, technology and consultancy. Product and service suppliers looking to work more closely with FWD’s wholesaler members can join FWD as Supplier Partners, Supplier Members or Service Providers. FWD works in three strategic areas: Representing Wholesale Promoting Wholesale Bringing Wholesale Together

New to wholesale❓ Never fear, The Federation of Wholesale Distributors (FWD) have got you! 👇 This morning, our very own Tom Fender and Kelly Pye had the privilege of presenting at the FWD's "Introduction to Wholesale" session. The event took place at the Parfetts / Go Local depot in Birmingham. ✨Presentation Highlights: ➡️ Kelly shared her experiences of working both on the supplier side and for a wholesaler and why this sector is so professionally rewarding. ➡️ We gave an in-depth overview of the UK's convenience store market, detailing the composition of approximately 50K convenience stores and the market's evolution over the past decade. ➡️ We shared performance analysis of the convenience sector. ➡️ We pinpointed key issues facing retailers, with strategies on how they can thrive and stay competitive. This introductory session is a must-attend for anyone new to wholesale, offering invaluable insights, intelligence, and advice for a successful journey in the sector. We always enjoy connecting with new entrants to our channel. A big thank you to James Bielby for the invitation and to Gurms Athwal for hosting this fantastic session.

Collaboration is the name of the game in wholesale, as we find out when Infor, FWD Service Provider member, joins wholesale member Reynolds Catering Supplies Ltd for the latest episode of WholeStory. Hot off the back of our annual conference, there's plenty of continuity surrounding pressing topics for the sector: cyber security, AI and sustainability. "For Reynolds, Net Zero is up there with cyber security" says Richard Calder. And Infor are the ones helping Reynolds on this journey, providing the tools to help capture the data around sustainability reporting. While net zero is very much a journey for customers at the moment, legislation is driving it. Infor know that AI will be a natural part of people's application development in the future. Andy and the team are here to make it easier and faster for people to adopt AI in their business. Tune in and find out more.
