Sami Zayn and Bron Breakker faced each other at Money in the Bank 2024 for the Intercontinental Championship. Zayn beat Breakker by pinfall to retain his championship belt, something not a lot of people would’ve expected seeing how dominant Breakker has been in the lead-up to this match.
However, Zayn is the champ for a reason, and today he reminded the people why. This match was won by Sami’s heart more than his wrestling. Let’s take a look at how Zayn fared at MITB 2024, as he beat Bron Breakker to retain his Intercontinental Champion belt.

Sami Zayn beats Bron Breakker against all odds to retain Intercontinental Championship

Right as the bell went off, Breakker could be seen circling the ring, unbothered. It almost seemed like Bron was fully confident in his ability to win. Breakker dominated the early minutes of the fight and repeatedly threw Zayn across the wrong. He then proceeded to ram the champ into the turnbuckle a few times.
However, Zayn turned the match on its head by countering Breakker near the ropes. Sami stood in front, waiting for Breakker to throw him out; that’s what it seemed like, at least. But he moved at the last second and used Breakker’s momentum to fling him out of the ring. Zayn then delivered a high-flying maneuver to Bron who was struggling to get up outside the ring.
After this, it seemed like the momentum of the match had shifted. Sami continued his assault once Breakker made it back into the ring. The champ slammed Breakker to the ground once again and tried to pin him. However, the challenger was resilient and escaped right as the referee was about to make the third tap.

After failing to pin him, Sami dodged Breakker and sent him flying outside the ring for the second time. He then tried to land another flying kick onto Bron’s face but was caught in the air, however, Breakker couldn’t make his reversal count as he was countered by the champ, who pushed him into the ring’s metal pillar.

This is where Bron got back to dominating the match. He made a recovery and beat the lights out of Zayn. Breakker threw him from the top of a turnbuckle and then out of the ring. While Sami took his time recovering outside, Bron sneaked out and continued his assault on the champ.
The fight moved back inside the ring, and it seemed like Breakker was about to become the new Intercontinental Champion. However, Zayn wasn’t done for the night just yet. After an excellent counter, Sami threw Breakker into the turnbuckle.
Following this, both contestants took turns trying to land a kick in each other’s faces. Unfortunately for Bron, Sami succeeded on his second attempt. A kick to the face put Breakker out of commission, and Zayn crept in for a victory by pinfall. Breakker was easily the more dominant star in this matchup. However, Zayn’s experience helped him pull one over the young star.
