File action-taken report on Kolkata CP & DCP, governor tells CM Mamata Banerjee

KOLKATA: Bengal governor C V Ananda Bose wrote to CM Mamata Banerjee on Monday, seeking an action-taken report on his complaint against Kolkata police commissioner Vineet Goyal and DC (central) Indira Mukherjee, both of whom he accused of conduct "completely unbecoming of a public servant". Mukherjee heads the special inquiry team constituted to probe a former Raj Bhavan staffer's molestation charge against the governor.
Bose's missive to Mamata came within hours of TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh telling reporters, "If the governor has the courage, he should face the investigation (into molestation charge)."
Bose had complained to MHA against the two IPS officers in June, accusing them of preventing victims of poll-related violence from entering Raj Bhavan to meet him.He also sought a status report on the inquiry into a couple being flogged at Chopra in Uttar Dinajpur and allegations of a woman being stripped in public.
Ghosh said police had acted in accordance with their brief. "If action is taken against police, old issues will resurface," he added.
"If someone thinks he can commit an act, remain untouchable behind shield of constitutional immunity, and try to stop an investigation by putting pressure on police, then it is called the game of the influential."
Ghosh said the ex-Raj Bhavan staffer, who moved SC over the alleged delay in probing her complaint, had every right to seek justice.
