3 days after BSP TN chief killed, Chennai top cop shunted out
Three days after BSP state president K Armstrong was murdered in Chennai, senior IPS officer A Arun has replaced Sandeep Rai Rathore as city police commissioner. Soon after taking charge on Monday, Arun, without mentioning the Armstrong murder, vowed to talk to criminals "in their language". Arun is current additional director general of police (ADGP), law and order.
The home department has downgraded the post of commissioner of police from DGP to ADGP rank, according to the order issued by P Amudha, principal secretary to state govt. Arun had been earlier assigned the additional charge of director of Enforcement Bureau-CID (EB-CID), after Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal was transferred to the DGP office on June 20, following the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy.
