Bengaluru: Over 60 passengers, travelling from Delhi to Bengaluru by SpiceJet flight SG 8151, complained of a harrowing time they were subjected to, when they were confined to the aircraft, stranded on the tarmac at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi for nearly 12 hours due to alleged mishandling by the crew.
One traveller, who waited over 24 hours at Delhi airport after a connecting flight to reach Bengaluru, voiced his frustration, stating that nobody should ever go through such an ordeal.
The flight, scheduled to depart for Bengaluru at 7.40pm on Friday, was delayed indefinitely, when the pilot failed to report to work due to unforeseen circumstances.
This left passengers, including elderly individuals, children, and women confined to the aircraft on the Delhi runway.
The lack of communication from the airline and failure to provide essential amenities such as food and snacks further fuelled their frustration.
Passengers had to also endure an hour inside the flight without air conditioning, exacerbating their discomfort. The flight finally landed in Bengaluru on Saturday morning.
The incident has sparked widespread criticism online, with many passengers taking to social media to express their anger and disappointment over the airline’s perceived negligence.
As of now, SpiceJet airlines is yet to issue a formal statement, addressing the grievances, raised by the passengers.
