Do you know what scopes 1, 2 and 3 of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol mean? At the beginning of the year, we were measuring CO2 emissions at the first low carbon event – (Un)ready for the green future and finally, we can proudly present results! In an independent assessment, the report provided by DEKRA Germany presents the emissions of the event transparently. In addition, the shares of the different types of emissions are presented in comparison to the total footprint. This report provides a comprehensive analysis of our activities related to the round table discussion including emissions from energy consumption, transport, procurement of resources and other relevant sources. Carefully collected data and standardized methods were used to calculate accurate CO2 equivalent values. The following event carbon footprint report covers greenhouse gases that are part of the Kyoto Protocol. These gases are converted into CO2 equivalent (CO2e). Report is available at the following link: https://bit.ly/3RUtyzO Partners of the Event: DEKRA, E-RECIKLAŽA 2010 d.o.o., fischer Automotive Systems KD Jagodina, Green Energy 360, Hyatt Regency Belgrade, M&M Militzer&Münch Serbia, Mercedes-Benz Srbija, Milsped, MTU - MTU Aero Engines, MT-KOMEX - Energetski Portal, ProCredit Bank a.d Belgrade, Siemens Serbia, Telekom Srbija, and VF Holding. 10th Purchasing Initiative Western Balkans in numbers: ✔️ 99 suppliers from the Western Balkans of whom 22 come from Serbia ✔️ 20+ German buyers ✔️ 300+ scheduled B2B meetings Representatives of companies from the Western Balkans point out that the most important thing for working with German companies is to gain trust, which comes over time, but that the market of this region can and should learn a lot from German companies. Milan Mladenović, the Development Manager at Mecafor, says that this company has been operating in Kikinda for more than 18 years. "We are here as a possible supplier for German companies. I am a participant for the second year in a row, and the company for longer," said Mladenović, emphasizing that they are satisfied with the project, which has been going on for a decade, and that more and more business opportunities are opening each year. The Sales Manager of the METECH Ltd company in Smederevo, Aleksandar Jovanović, points out that their experience when it comes to this initiative is excellent. “We learned a lot, made a lot of contacts. We are participating for the tenth time," said Jovanović, emphasizing that the biggest benefit from cooperation with German companies is doing business with stable companies and the acquired knowledge. "We gained new knowledge and got to know new business techniques and specific methods for specific industries," said Jovanović. The Managing Director of AVEXCOR from Inđija, Mile Savić, states that the company deals with metal processing and that he is present at these B2B meetings for the second time. "The initiative does not give immediate results, but long-term ones. It takes time and resources to use this potential, but it is certainly a very good opportunity for everyone," said Savić. According to him, the company has achieved two cooperations after one year of participating in the project, adding that the market of Serbia and the Balkans has a lot to learn about the European market, as well as the demands of both European and German customers. Supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHK), and Bundesverband Materialwirtschaft, Einkauf und Logistik e.V. (BME), this Initiative continues to drive regional cooperation and integration into the EU market. #PartnerInSerbia

10𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞: 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐡 Today in Munich, 99 suppliers from the Western Balkans, including 22 from Serbia, are engaging in #B2B meetings with 20 German companies to strengthen cooperation and enhance their presence in German supply chains. Alexander Markus, Executive Member of the Board of the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce (AHK Serbien), highlighted the continuous progress of the Initiative since its launch in 2015. "This project contributes to establishing supply structures in Serbia and the region, with a noticeable trend of supply diversification among German companies," said Markus. He emphasized the importance of geographical proximity and order flexibility, including small series and ad hoc orders, as key factors driving increased interest in Western Balkan suppliers. Markus also noted the strong economic relations evidenced by the growth of German-Serbian trade in recent years. "From 2020 to 2021 and from 2021 to 2022, we saw a 25% increase, while from 2022 to 2023, there was a 13% increase in exports and imports," he added. He pointed out that German companies trust their Serbian partners and have not had serious complaints about the cooperation. However, Markus acknowledged that major challenges are logistical, particularly related to crossing borders. He mentioned the significance of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), which will have a substantial impact on collaboration. "The EU requires companies to adapt to new rules and standards, with a transition period until December 31, 2025. During this period, EU importers will need to calculate and report their suppliers' carbon emissions quarterly," Markus explained. Olaf Holzgrefe from BME underscored the project's impact, with around 5,000 B2B meetings over the last decade. Kristof Angebauer from the Munich Chamber of Commerce and Nina Wunderlich from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action both noted the growing importance of the Western Balkans in German supply chains.
