Do you know what scopes 1, 2 and 3 of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol mean? At the beginning of the year, we were measuring CO2 emissions at the first low carbon event – (Un)ready for the green future and finally, we can proudly present results! In an independent assessment, the report provided by DEKRA Germany presents the emissions of the event transparently. In addition, the shares of the different types of emissions are presented in comparison to the total footprint. This report provides a comprehensive analysis of our activities related to the round table discussion including emissions from energy consumption, transport, procurement of resources and other relevant sources. Carefully collected data and standardized methods were used to calculate accurate CO2 equivalent values. The following event carbon footprint report covers greenhouse gases that are part of the Kyoto Protocol. These gases are converted into CO2 equivalent (CO2e). Report is available at the following link: https://bit.ly/3RUtyzO Partners of the Event: DEKRA, E-RECIKLAŽA 2010 d.o.o., fischer Automotive Systems KD Jagodina, Green Energy 360, Hyatt Regency Belgrade, M&M Militzer&Münch Serbia, Mercedes-Benz Srbija, Milsped, MTU - MTU Aero Engines, MT-KOMEX - Energetski Portal, ProCredit Bank a.d Belgrade, Siemens Serbia, Telekom Srbija, and VF Holding. The European Union is currently not “Fit for 55”! When it comes to the self-defined target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55 percent by 2030, particularly in the mobility sector, there is still a long way to go. This is one of the key takeaways of the 7th international FEV Zero CO2 Mobility Conference in Berlin. At the beginning of last November, around 100 participants discussed at the Titanic Chaussee Hotel (TITANIC Hotels Berlin) about chances and approaches to still reach these important targets. On the other hand, the good news is, that the necessary #technologies and #tools for a successful #mobilitytransition are in place with battery-electric and hydrogen-based applications. Now, it requires a reliable regulatory #framework to enable the move towards emission-free mobility with planning #reliability. Visit our latest press release at https://lnkd.in/eRKxVRyP to find out more on the findings of our conference and learn more about the event, the speakers and the key conclusions! #feelevolution #fev #defossilization #greenmobility #futuremobility #parisclimateagreement #goals #hydrogen #batteries

Despite their nefarious impacts on climate ⛈ and health🔥#gasoline and #dieselengine cars still dominate the global automotive landscape. The #EuropeanUnion has boldly decided to ban new CO2 emission cars from 2035. #Norway, #Iceland and #Sweden show this can be done with #ElectricCars🔌⚡. In these 2 posts, I call on all #OECD countries to make the pledge of #zeroemission new vehicles. Embracing a greener future in road transport! According to the European Commission's strategy for sustainable and smart mobility, there should be 80,000 zero-emission trucks on EU roads by 2030. This target is part of a broader goal to achieve a 90% reduction in transport-related greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, aligning with the European Green Deal objectives. Yet, perspectives diverge, and estimates from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) propose a more robust target of having at least 200,000 zero-emission trucks on European roads by 2030. We can say that the landscape is evolving rapidly, and there is no doubt that the ongoing advancements in electric and hydrogen technologies are set to revolutionize the industry. Get yourself ready for an expansion in operating zero-emission trucks and decreasing costs, making zero-emission vehicles more and more common sight on our roads. Dive deeper into the future of road transport in one of our latest blog articles. Moving out from a pure "tank-to-wheel" approach to measure CO2 emissions: Switzerland did it! 🚗 In March, the Swiss Parliament passed a new CO2 act which puts on an equal footing cars with internal combustion engines #ICE powered with #eFuels with electric vehicles when calculating CO2 emissions. With this text, vehicle importers and manufacturers could take into account CO2 reductions achieved by using eFuels in their new vehicle fleet. 🔎 Currently in the EU, CO2 emissions from vehicles are only measured at the tailpipe. This means that the only emissions that are accounted for are those generated when using the vehicle, overlooking emissions from the manufacturing of the vehicle and the #battery or the fuel cells, the production of the energy or the #recycling of the vehicle. 🌍 From a climate perspective, it does not matter whether greenhouse gases are emitted during the production of the car or of the energy carrier, or at the tailpipe. All these emissions count, which is why life-cycle assessment #LCA gives a fairer overview when comparing low-carbon technologies. Reasons Behind the e-Fuels European Fight Back: Germany has thrown a monkey wrench into the European Commission’s objective of using EVs to transition to 100% carbon-neutral vehicles by 2035, a vital element of its aim to become climate-neutral by 2050. To protect its car industry from the effects of eliminating ICE vehicles, Berlin has blocked approval of a regulation to ban the […]

This morning I had the incredible honour to give introductory remarks to the EU's transport ministers. Fun fact: I sat next to Germany's transport minister #Wissing and we debated ... #efuels. Here's what I said: - Transport now accounts for 29% of EU carbon pollution. By 2030 it could be more than 40%. Why? B/c the rest of the economy is decarbonising 6x faster. - The EU green deal #FF55 will radically reduce transport carbon pollution. CO2 standards, fuel mandates etc work but 'only' deliver 71% cuts by 2050. That's huge but some way off 100%. To get to #netzero2050 we need to: 1. #Electrify all vehicles - starting with #corporatefleets. Countries like France, Netherlands agreed #companycars are low hanging fruit for #electriccars 2. Deal with the existing fleet - scrap #ICE and slow down old #diesel / #petrol exports from western to central and eastern Europe #CEE 3. Stop expanding our #roads and #airports 4. Future transport #infrastructure is #cycling and #energyinfrastructure (#grids!) 5. Massively scale up #efuels for #aviation and #shipping - but not for cars and trucks! That last point led to some rolling of eyes by my neighbour and a speech later extolling the virtues of (importing) efuels and talking down electric cars. This was quite an experience. Thanks to Georges Gilkinet for inviting me to the Belgian presidency's informal council. Transport & Environment (T&E)

CEO - Cryoshelter GmbH - the revolutionary cryogenic fuel tanks systems for hydrogen and renewable gas
We are in the process of witnessing the end of BEV-only hype for passenger cars as BEV simply don’t work for all use cases for all customers. Why should the same BEV-only mistake be repeated for the much more challenging transport sector? We need to regulate what we want to achieve - less additional CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, hence we need to implement at least well-to-wheel, better yet life-cycle emissions regulations. Let’s correct course while we can.
