🇦🇺🏗 In #WesternAustralia, we delivered the Forrestfield Airport Link #railway line, connecting #Perth's eastern suburbs with the airport and existing suburban rail network. 🇦🇺🏗️ Milestone Lift! Both of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) cutterheads have been successfully lowered into place at the North East Link Project in #Melbourne! Each of these massive cutterheads weighs over 400 tonnes. The team employed the skills of a hefty 550-tonne gantry crane to lower them into the launch box. Once commissioned, the TBMs will embark on their 6.6km journey to Manningham. Delivering sustainable #healthcare #infrastructure! #Webuild is currently delivering the new Monopoli-Fasano Hospital situated in the South-East of Bari, #Italy. The scope of work encompasses all civil works and installations. The infrastructure has been designed according to criteria inspired by the principles of eco-design and was envisioned as a ‘hospital in a park’. 🚉 Like all major projects, the construction of the new high-capacity #railway line #Palermo-#Catania-#Messina is already leaving an important legacy in the areas it touches. In the midst of yet another drought affecting #Sicily, #Webuild workers and technicians have worked to complete the replacement of 25 kilometers of the water network running through the Plain of Catania, near the new railway. The project involved the renewal of part of the water network with modern, corrosion-resistant pipes. These new interventions will reduce water leakage to zero. 🇦🇺 Almost a century ago, in 1929, the idea of building an underground railway under #Melbourne was born. After decades of debate, work began in 1971 on the Melbourne Underground Rail Loop, known today as the #CityLoop. A significant portion of the excavation of the tunnels and the lining of their walls and the setting of the tracks and reinforced concrete sleepers throughout were done by #Webuild predecessor.
