Just called BA tech support and it will take effect immediately. Then you only need log out and back in. You are only allowed one GSP swap per day.
You can obtain a temporary test password for either QWEST or Genuity from tech support. The password changes daily. "install1 " is Qwest, and "install2" is Genuity. Doing this for a few days in a row and seeing what carrier works more reliably in your region is a good idea before making the decision to switch. There is no resource to obtain the passwords other than tech support.
Qwest seems to be more reliable from my region (NYC). There are also fewer hops as well.
Latency seems to be a little lower with Genuity.
Genuity = Verizon. Network status pages/scheduled maintenance pages are now available.
If worse comes to worse, you can always switch back.
Use those temporary passwords and either a program Neotrace from Neoworx or VisualRoute from Fortel to do some basic traces. This will help you make a more informed choice when switching. You can also take a look for any packet loss and have an accurate reading of ping times. These two programs are shareware, and can be used for up to 30 days without registering.
