Trial Spotlight 💡 Today we’re highlighting the success of the eWATERservices trial that commenced in 2022. The trial installed 3 eWATER Smart Taps🚰 in villages in the Gambia, 2 in Wellingaraba and 1 in Ndemban. The trial aimed for 1,000 liters of clean water 💧to be dispensed from each tap daily during the trial period. This target was exceeded as the Smart Taps dispensed 1,467 and 1,387 L/dy in Wellingaraba and 1,725 L/d in Ndemban. All trial KPIs were achieved, further presenting the success of the trial and each liter of water delivered cut emissions by 0.42kg CO2-e, leading to an estimated annual decrease of 52 tons CO2-e from water collection and purification processes. Isle Global has recently published a case study with all the exclusive insights of this groundbreaking trial. Do you know the Trial Reservoir process? All Trial Reservoir initiatives have a proven process to give all supported trials the best chance of success, and it goes like this: Step 1 – With the support of the Trial Reservoir team the technology vendor will engage interested end-users to be involved in the trial 💬 Step 2 – We will then select the reservoir initiative appropriate for the trial ✔ Step 3 – The technology vendor answers 6 initial screening questions 🗒 Step 4 – We will host an introduction call with the technology vendor, end-user and the Trial Reservoir team 📞 Step 5,6, and 7 – Here is where we delve into the legal paperwork, such as the engagement letter and due diligence 📁 Step 8 – Isle will work with the technology vendor and end-user to help design the trial plan and KPIs 📊 Step 9 - Sign the trial & purchase agreement between vendor and end-user, then loan agreement between vendor and Isle 🖋 Step 10 – The funds will be released from Isle to the technology vendor to start the trial 💰 Step 11 – Now the trial has started it will be consistently monitored by the Trial Reservoir team 🔍 Step 12 and 13 – Isle will conduct an independent validation of the trial results and if successful repayment will be made 💸 Step 14 – Isle will share success stories with their networks and the Trial Reservoir sponsors through communications material 🎤 Here you have a step-by-step guide of your Trial Reservoir journey, and we urge you to contact Jo Burgess to get involved in the unique, risk-free opportunity. Tonight’s the night 🏆 The Trial Reservoir in a joint entry with VorTech Water Solutions has been shortlisted for the Groundbreaker Award in the Water Industry Awards 2024 which will be announced tonight in Birmingham. Recently VorTech Water Solutions collaborated with the Trial Reservoir and Xylem Innovation Labs to fulfil a successful trial of VorTech’s VPATM aeration system. The technology involved in the trial is an innovative wastewater treatment technology that reduces operational costs of membrane bioreactors by using vortex aeration. The trial wanted to solve problems with membrane fouling, poor oxygen transfer and low energy efficiency. Performance data were monitored during the trial period and the result concluded a 30% reduction in specific energy consumption and a 90% reduction in maintenance time and cost. This trial was a great success and is well deserving of this award nomination. Finally, the VPATM upgrade is estimated to deliver a total annual operation saving of 389% over a 20-year period! The Trial Reservoir is dedicated to its journey of accelerating innovation to mitigate climate change and this recent trial is no exception. We will be attending the award ceremony with VorTech Water Solutions tonight and celebrating the trials success at the event. Keep an eye on our social media for more award updates! Today the Trial Reservoir initiatives are thrilled to announce that Jo Burgess, Head of Trial Reservoir, will be awarded Honorary Membership of the Water Institute of Southern Africa at their Biennial congress. Honorary Membership is WISA’s most prestigious recognition for an individual. The WISA Board confers the award after reviewing the nomination. It is a testament to the awardee’s significant contributions and eminence in the water industry, and this is very well deserved by Jo. Jo Burgess has expressed her excitement through the quote, "I'm utterly delighted and somewhat astounded to have been nominated, let alone received the award. The list of Honorary Members is full of people I hugely admire and respect. To have my name added to that list is truly an honour, and I'm grateful for the recognition as well as for all the opportunities that the WISA community has opened up to me throughout the years. Thank you, WISA." Congratulations Jo on this amazing achievement. 📣 We’re celebrating our status as finalists for the prestigious Water Industry Awards 2024! 📣 🔦 Over the next few weeks, we’ll be shining a spotlight on each of Isle’s two shortlisted initiatives. First up: our pioneering project in the Net Zero Carbon Initiative of the Year category - the Climate Change Trial Reservoir. 🔦 🌡 Isle’s Climate Change Trial Reservoir is leading the charge against climate change by helping to drive the water industry to reach net zero carbon by reducing GHG emissions and saving energy. We’re something of a match-maker: our mission is to connect groundbreaking, low-carbon technologies with water utilities and other end-users in the water industry. We want to rapidly identify, test, and scale successful solutions for global impact. By lowering the cash flow barriers typically associated with these trials, we aim to transform the water industry. 🌡 Here are some incredible projects supported by the Climate Change Trial Reservoir (you can find out more on the ‘Case Studies’ section of our website): https://lnkd.in/dW_abqgM 🚰 Smart Taps Drinking Water: Bringing safe, clean drinking water to 1500 people in rural communities in the Gambia, the Smart Taps trial delivered 1500-1700 litres of water per day. The trial cut 375 tonnes of CO2 equivalent annually linked to water collection and purification. Moreover, it provided significant community benefits by freeing up time for women and girls to attend school and work instead of fetching water. 🚽 Arumloo (Pty) Ltd Ultra-Low Flush Toilet: South African company Arumloo Pty Ltd revolutionised water efficiency with their ultra-low flush toilet, using just 2L of water per flush. Inspired by the vortex shape of the Arum Lily, this design reduces the need for multiple flushes. Installing 120 Arumloos at a Gabarone school led to a 71% reduction in water usage, cutting water bills and saving 468 kg CO2 equivalent per year - while also gaining nationwide attention! 🌰 Innovative Treatment for Irrigation Water: This trial featured a groundbreaking magnetic particle treatment (MPT) technology which selectively removed contaminants with minimal energy. Conducted at a US ranch producing tree nuts, the trial achieved 35-50% energy savings and proved more cost-effective than conventional methods. This success has sparked interest from local neighbours eager to install their own MPT systems! 🚛 SLG-F Wastewater Efficiency Trial: This trial offers pioneering solutions for sustainable sludge management through a special thickening treatment process. The result? Halving the number of tanker journeys from Yorkshire Water’s trial site. For Yorkshire Water, which transports sludge from around 700 wastewater treatment works, this technology could be a game changer. ✨ Stay tuned over the next few weeks to hear more about our work in the Water Industry Awards! #WaterIndustryAwards #Innovation #Sustainability #WaterTransition #TrialReservoir

How can you get involved in the latest Trial Reservoir opportunity? Recently we launched a new Trial Reservoir initiative specifically for Minority-Led US Utilities. This opportunity supports trials with a minority-led water utility partner, or a trial that meets the needs of a disadvantaged community within the utility's service area. This opportunity is exclusive to trials in the USA, and we are so excited to embark on this new journey. Contact Dr. Reshmina William to find out more about how you can get involved.
