Absolutely fantastic stuff from The QT!
QT23 is out now and we're capturing the post-election mood…plus a whole lot more! Highlights include: 🚆 🚌 Transport moves: North East Mayor Kim McGuinness and Transport Secretary Louise Haigh MP share some much-needed positivity around plans to revamp the region’s creaking transport system — including progress on the Tyne & Wear Metro Washington Loop and the Leamside Line. 📋 Strategic plan: Our decision to ask 100 of the North East’s movers and shakers to share their parliamentary wishlist continues to spark a wider debate. This week ChatGPT gets in on the act to transform our de facto manifesto into a detailed strategic plan! 🎶 Culture: Keith Alessi uses some drive time to discuss the heartwarming show he’s bringing back to the North East. His one-man show Tomatoes Tried To Kill Me But Banjos Saved My Life is heading to our region later this month: ➡ Staveley Roundhouse ➡ Wark Town Hall ➡ Gosforth Civic Theatre ➡ Cullercoats Watch House 🔬 Innovation: Dan Sheridan discovered that a mixed bag of North East weather couldn’t dampen the spirits of the NWG (Northumbrian Water Group) team as their latest Innovation Festival took centre stage at Newcastle Racecourse. Star speakers included Steve Cram and Tilly Lockey. ⚽ 🇵🇹 Euro memories: England might be back in the UEFA EURO 2024 final under Gareth Southgate — and they can score penalties! But, as Simon Rushworth recalls, it wasn’t always like that. Head back to Portugal in 2004 to find out more… ⛏ Nostalgia: Harold Wilson, Tony Benn and… that’s my dad! Chris Stewart reflects on the lasting bond between miners long after the industry closed down — embodied by the THE FRIENDS OF THE DURHAM MINERS' GALA LIMITED and his own personal memories. Check out The QT for all of this and more and find out how to subscribe to our FREE weekly newsletter. #northeastnews #northeastculture #northeastpolicy #northeastpolitics
