One thing I wasn’t expecting when leaving the company I helped found…
The bizarre juxtaposition that:
1. There is freedom in knowing that no clients or team members are waiting for me to answer their question.
2. Phantom Slack notifications are real, I keep reaching to check in.
I didn’t realized how addicted I was to checking in. And I didn’t realize the weight of that expectation. It is only now that the weight is gone that I realize it was even there.
Take the time to identify the weights you’re carrying. Evaluate if you’re doing this on purpose or by accident.
If it is on purpose, proceed. ✅
If it is by accident, pause long enough to identify the system that will relieve that pressure. ❌
This may mean delegating something to someone else or downloading the context only you hold so others can access it.
