How can you use transparency to engage employees?
Create a regular cadenced meeting where you're using the same agenda week after week (consistency in topic and frequency.) Use this meeting for normal topics that come up or company initiatives that are ongoing. The more open you are in this meeting, the better. Share company key info like revenue targets, product review scores, upcoming and released features, and highlight on a culture component. Create an open culture of async communication where managers share down and contributors share up. Use thematic channels to encourage the activities you want (praise channel, project specific) in addition to regular department oriented channels.

HooYu
TechCrunch Disrupt NYC 2015 - Winner (Best Yammer Integration)
HooYu was a platform for monitoring and evaluating the health of communications in organizations. We did so by providing a fun and easy to use game in which employees can test their knowledge of each other. We used this data as a measure of relationship strength and then mapped the relationships as a graph. Office of Academic Disability - Web App
One of my passions if volunteering my ability to benefit those who would not be able to get engineering services. I developed an application, pro bono, for Shippensburg University Disability Office. This application greatly streamlines their daily processes and allows for them to focus on what matters: getting students the attention they need. Less time filling out paperwork and more time doing what they love = win. Solo project.
This project is behind a VPN. Sorry. Source is here:…One of my passions if volunteering my ability to benefit those who would not be able to get engineering services. Algorithmic Music Composition using Simultaneous Genetic Algorithms
Senior research project led under the direction of Dr. Alice Armstrong. The project's goal was to generate new melodies that are similar in style to an input melody. The project used genetic algorithms so that they entire process could be done without music theory domain knowledge encoded into the problem and so the algorithm could be used for any genre of music; it is not bound to a specific genre through a limiting set of rules.

AutoMate
Web application built in 36 hours at MHacks, the largest student hackathon in the world at the time. It pulls in APIs from Hearst Media and creates a centralized car information experienced targeted at buyers and information seekers. Design is clean and fresh and effective at delivering the needed information.
I was the sole developer on the application and I worked directly with Heart Media developers in order to report bugs during the event. In the end, we won Hearst Media Best API…Web application built in 36 hours at MHacks, the largest student hackathon in the world at the time. Tune-In
Tune-In is designed to help students and teachers stay connected in large or distant classes. Due to perspective scaling, teachers may not be able to make out normal body language cues to see if the student is understanding the material at hand. Additionally, in large classrooms, shyness of students may inhibit their motivation to ask questions. Tune-In adds anonymity for students and provides real-time feedback ratings for teachers to gauge the class's understanding, in hopes of improving…

For this project, I worked on the back-end infrastructure with Dr. Carol Wellington. I developed the website, web interface, iOS interface, and Android interface. Java, HTML/CSS, JS, Obj C were all used throughout the development process.Other creatorsSee project
