About us
Approximately 4,000 U.S. Marshals and Deputy U.S. Marshals form the backbone of the United States Marshals Service, an agency that has served the United States since 1789. The U.S. Marshals Service serves as the enforcement arm of the federal courts and is involved in virtually every federal law enforcement initiative. The Marshals' duties include protecting the federal judiciary, apprehending federal fugitives, housing and transporting federal prisoners, managing and selling seized assets acquired by criminals through illegal activities, and operating the Witness Security Program. The Marshals perform all these roles by coordinating efforts with other federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. This cooperation has been a cornerstone of the Marshals Service since its inception. The agency's headquarters is located in Arlington, VA, and provides support to 94 district offices across the country, including the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and three territories of the United States -- the Virgin Islands, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

The U.S. Marshals Service, along with federal, state, and local partner agencies, led Operation We Will Find You 2, a six-week national operation from May 20 to June 24, 2024. The operation resulted in the recovery and location of 200 critically missing children, including endangered runaways and those abducted by noncustodial persons. With technical assistance from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), 123 children were removed from dangerous situations, and 77 were found in safe locations. https://lnkd.in/e5DVSm_R

Recently, the USMS Training Division, Southern District of Texas, and Western District of Texas competed in the Tap Cancer Out Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Open in Jacksonville, FL. Tap Cancer Out is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to raising funds to bringing us closer to a cure for cancer. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu concepts and techniques represent one of the foundational elements of the USMS Control Tactics program, which is taught to basic training candidates as well as operational employees in the field. #USMarshals #BeTheDifference
