Steven has just completed a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Cambridge, where he focused on the dynamic evolution of comets and rocky belts in binary star systems using Monte Carlo models and simulations. Before his PhD, Steven earned a BA and MSci in Natural Sciences, focusing on Physics and Astrophysics, also from the University of Cambridge. Steven is excited to use his expertise in error quantification and forecasting at Open Power to support the shift to renewable energy. Meeting the Team 🌼 We're happy to introduce Soroush Mortazavi, a valuable member of our data science team. Soroush is an MASc student at the University of Waterloo and holds a BSc from the University of Amirkabir. With a deep passion for machine learning since 2018, Soroush has worked on projects involving computer vision, time series prediction, NLP, games, and more. His research focuses on reinforcement learning and applying machine learning to data science. At our company, Soroush contributes significantly to the development of ML products, including solar panel detection and solar energy output prediction. His dedication to leveraging advanced technologies to solve real-world problems is inspiring. We value your essential contributions to our team. 🙏

Following his successful completion of undergraduate studies at Amirkabir University of Technology, Mohammad is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Engineering at Sharif University of Technology. His research focuses on machine learning and deep learning, and he is passionate about applying AI to address real-world problems. Mohammad joined our team in April 2023 and has played a key role in elevating our data science activities with his creativity and dedication. 💡 Exciting insights from the latest presentation by the New Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. 📎 The world is on track for massive transformations in the #energysystem, but different countries will take different paths (starting positions, resource endowments, access to finance, and technology). 📎 Scaling up new technologies remains challenging due to the need for viable business models driven by regulation and the necessity of achieving cost reductions and revenue streams. 📎 Energy policy and systems must ensure energy security, affordability, and sustainability, but other dimensions, such as industrial policy, competitiveness, and technological leadership, are becoming increasingly important. 📌 We believe the UK is attempting to be a leader, particularly in AI and energy, by driving these initiatives. We are very excited to be working closely with the government to develop an AI energy agenda that will strengthen the UK's competitive technology and leadership.
