May is a big month with so many Denver Kids students achieving graduation milestones. We always strive to ensure our students feel celebrated for these big accomplishments. One way we do this is through our annual Senior Celebration event. This year's celebration was one for the books, bringing together students, families, and staff to honor our graduating seniors. Held at the Carla Madison Rec Center Rooftop, the event was filled with graduation cap decorating, a photo booth, games, laughter, delicious food, and plenty of memorable moments. Be sure to check out the full 2024 Senior Celebration photo album here: https://buff.ly/3RM3gzM

Today is Juneteenth (June 19th), a holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. Otherwise known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, or Emancipation Day, Juneteenth celebrates the freedom and history of Black and African American people. Denver Kids is committed to empowering young minds and fostering an inclusive environment where every voice matters. Looking for a way to celebrate today? With a total of 44 dedicated runners, including 5 relay teams, Denver Kids once again participated in the Denver Colfax Marathon as a charity partner. Our dedicated runners fundraised on our behalf, supporting our mission and students. We had runners participating in every race category — including 5 students in the Colfax Marathon Fly Fleet program. We are thrilled to report that our teams and individual runners helped us make a significant impact. Thank you to our dedicated runners, supportive donors, and the Denver Colfax Marathon for helping us make a meaningful difference in our community. Be sure to check out The Denver Post article about Denver Kids students participating in the new Colfax Marathon Fly Feet Program this year! https://lnkd.in/g9YmDZUC

We are thrilled to have students participating in Denver Colfax Marathon’s new Fly Feet program this year. Some of our 7th graders were even interviewed recently by the The Denver Post while training for their run. They will run at no cost thanks to the Fly Feet program, which aims to give more people access to run in the Colfax Marathon 5K. “The program just fits so seamlessly with the (mission) of Denver Kids — providing support and guidance, opening up opportunities and sharing stuff with (youth) that they may not have interest in at first, or an understanding of how to enter that space,” said Denver Kids board member Michael Macias, MBA. “They provide a community to do (the race) with — amazing energy, excitement, bringing people together.” Be sure to stop by the Denver Kids tent to cheer on our students and other runners if you’re out and about at the marathon this weekend! https://lnkd.in/g9YmDZUC

I was so honored to receive the Community Impact Award from Denver Kids, Inc. on Saturday. It’s such a great organization that helps children and families in our Denver community. It was such a fun night too! I enjoyed the party, but I REALLY appreciated everyone who donated so T. Craig Mills and I could karaoke together. Such a fun way to raise money for a fabulous cause!
