🎙 🎙 On today's "Bossed Up" podcast our VP of Programs Louise Myrland is interviewed by Emilie Aries, SPHR on how to understand pay transparency and your rights as a job seeker. On Black Women's Equal Pay Day, which brings awareness to the fact that Black women earn .63 cents for every $1 earned by white men, it's more important than ever for women to understand their protections as job seekers and employees. Colorado's equal pay laws are designed to close gender and racial pay gaps, but they won't work if people don't know about them. Please share this with your networks so that together we can narrow, and ultimately close, the #wagegap and #wealthgap. https://lnkd.in/gCaaKdS9

For 49 years after Roe v. Wade, Americans had the right to obtain an abortion if they became pregnant. Then, two years ago today, with Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the Supreme Court put an end to it. Fortunately, Colorado continues to fight for access to abortion. In November, you'll be able to vote on a constitutional amendment to protect abortion from government interference. Learn more about the amendment here: https://lnkd.in/gjF-nCvr And stay tuned for a ballot guide from us this fall with more information about how you can vote to protect women's progress and advance gender, racial, and economic equity.

Did you hear the news about the impact of guaranteed income on homelessness? ⬇ Guaranteed income effectively helps people make meaningful economic advancements! Denver Basic Income Project released its one-year report, which details how the experiment led to 2x as many people in stable housing. At the beginning of the project, participants were living on the streets, in shelters, on friends' couches, or in vehicles. At 10 months, about 45% of participants were living in a house or apartment that they rented or owned. These outcomes closely reflect what we’ve learned through our WINcome grantmaking program, which provides flexible cash assistance to women through direct-service grantee partners. Participants in our program report that the top uses of cash assistance were for housing 🏚, transportation 🚗, and home expenses 🛏. Join the movement to make guaranteed income/flexible cash assistance a long-term reality in Denver with the Denver Guaranteed Income Now Coalition, WFCO, Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition, Denver Basic Income Project, and other partners. Start by attending a community conversation on Tuesday, June 25, at The Gathering Place. RSVP here: http://bit.ly/3VASTju
An experiment doled out money to homeless people in Denver, no strings attached. Here’s what happened.

Today, Juneteenth, we honor the remarkable resilience and determination of formerly enslaved people who, as the National Museum of African American History and Culture states, "sought to reunify families, establish schools, run for political office, push radical legislation, and even sue slaveholders for compensation." Despite 200+ years of enslavement, these changes were extraordinary. Today, let's rally that same resolve to inspire and empower our nation in these uncertain times. #Juneteenth #Freedom #Resilience #Empowerment
