📰 The Attentive Energy consortium has proposed an offshore wind project for the U.S. State of New Jersey’s Fourth Solicitation, offering extensive clean energy, economic development and community benefits to the state. The submission follows on from the consortium’s achievement earlier in 2024, when Attentive Energy secured an OREC contract in New Jersey for the Attentive Energy Two (AE2) project. In this new proposal, Attentive Energy proposes to New Jersey a consistent and holistic vision prepared to build off of the momentum and early successes of its AE2 project. Eric Thumma, Head of U.S. at Corio Generation, says: “I’m proud of the work that we and our partners have put into this process and pleased to see this comprehensive submission enter the New Jersey Fourth Solicitation. "Attentive Energy's offering provides the opportunity to nearly double the amount of clean energy the lease area delivers to New Jersey, from almost 1.4 to around 2.7 GW, as well as commitments to local ports and economic development, and partnerships with environmental, fisheries and labor stakeholders. Corio Generation is now a proud member of Pilipinas Offshore Wind Energy Resource (POWER), a Philippines offshore wind industry organisation dedicated to accelerating the clean energy transition by harnessing offshore wind power. The Philippines, seen as a major potential offshore wind growth market, is looking to reach a target of 35 per cent of renewables in its energy generation mix by 2030. Corio is aiming to develop up to five offshore wind projects in the country totalling 3 GW to help achieve this target. This week, Corio participated in a POWER induction ceremony held in Manila, in the presence of Raphael P.M. Lotilla, Secretary of the Department of Energy, and Monalisa Dimalanta, Chairperson of the Energy Regulatory Commission of the Philippines. Corio’s team in the Philippines, led by Development Director Alma Roxas-Aguila, look forward to participating in POWER’s initiatives and strategic discussions, working together with other organisations and developers to drive the future of clean energy in the country. The new UK government has pledged to make Britain a clean energy superpower by quadrupling offshore wind capacity by 2030 and taking advantage of the country's high winds, shallow waters and skilled workforce. Corio Generation is proud to be headquartered in London and to call the UK home. We are developing two of the country's largest offshore wind projects, West of Orkney Windfarm (2 GW) in Scotland and Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind (1.5 GW) in England, together with partners including TotalEnergies and RIDG. Our CEO, Jonathan Cole met with Ed Miliband, now UK Secretary of State for Net Zero and Energy Security, at COP28 last December (pictured here), where he chaired an industry roundtable hosted by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and Global Renewables Alliance. In an interview published by Recharge Jonathan said that the "clear signal" being provided by government on the energy transition should help to mobilise industrial players and support the supply chain expansion needed to deliver its ambitious agenda. 🥇We recently announced the winners of our inaugural innovation competition launched with Å Energi, our partners in the Nordvegen Vind consortium, and the Norway Offshore Wind Accelerator. The challenge we set was titled 'Floating Offshore Wind – Safe solutions for Black Swan Events', asking for ways to respond effectively to incidents of mooring line failure on a floating wind turbine. Step forward StormLinker from Norway, with their method of attaching a magnetic connection to a vessel before towing it to safety, and Blackfish Engineering Design Ltd of the UK, with their C-Dart system that could also be used for wet storage and tow. Two highly innovative approaches rightly recognised in our award session at NOW’s Floating Wind Days conference last month. Looking ahead, we have set a second innovation challenge all about managing and mitigating potential environmental impacts. The challenge is titled Offshore Wind Environmental Impact Monitoring - Better Measurement for Better Management of Noise, Microplastics and Biodiversity Impacts.
