ISO 26262 was then applied to enable the definition of additional means and measures so that implementation would be reasonably safe for use, or fulfilling the ISO 26262 safety norm. For ADAS and AD we have a more complex situation. We are more or less forced to release functional growth along with the advances of functional development and the verification and validation of the same. This puts very stringent requirements on the components that constitute the ADAS or AD. All safety-relevant components need to have their contribution to the safety case known and deviations of the same taken care of by the system. What does that imply? A lot.
